I will be traveling by air and out of town for a few days.
I checked the information at Logan airport and parking a car there seems to be very costly, at least $18 a day.

I'm not too far from Alewife Station and am thinking about parking there and then taking the subway.
Is it easy to find a spot there? How much does it cost?

There are a lot of spots in the on-site parking garage, I think the rate was $8 a night last time I was there. I am assuming, as a senior member that you are well aware of how to get to Logan from the Red Line! My only question would be whether it was possible for you to get to Alewife via a bus or something if you are close to the station and save yourself the extra parking fees? Maybe not for one reason or another, but just a thought.

Thanks.
I'm kind of new in Boston but I can figure out how to use the subway.

I park there all the time and always find a spot. It is a huge garage. However, I don't think you can park at Alewife overnight, if that is what you have in mind. The train stops running before 1am. You might be towed or have to pay for two days.

Could you take a cab from your place to Alewife station?

Just remember to know what terminal you're flying out of, I take the SL1 to Logan nearly every day and it's always entertaining to watch people scramble because they have no idea what terminal they need to get off at. I think they assume it's one stop that everyone gets off at, but the bus stops at every terminal.

Wow things must have changed. My spouse used to commute into Boston via Alewife and reported to me quite often that Alewife was full.

Just an FYI, red line + silver line from Alewife to Logan takes about 45 minutes.

Last I knew, parking at Alewife was $7 day/$8 overnight and you were only allowed to leave your car there for up to a week. But that could have changed.

I am planning to visit Boston on Wednesday.... Thinking of parking overnight at
Alewife for 2 nights/3 days. The rate I see is $7.00 days/ $8.00 overnight. Does
that mean $15 for 24 hours....

Alewife garage is $7/day or $8/night. This means that if you park overnight, it will be a max of $8 that day. So if you parked Friday through Sunday (pickup on Sunday), your total would be $23.
