It's still abysmal, but there were 15 murders through May in 2019 and in 2021 Boston is at 14 so far. Unless things get crazy this weekend, 2021 is just keeping tragic pace.
Murder aside, overall violence in Boston appears to be rising. Boston had a 22% increase in DV from 2019 until the start of 2020. Shootings rose 29 % in 2020. Stabbings appear to be on the rise. Gang violence is rising.

It's just hard to understand how or why more people aren't disgusted by this kind of violence happening on the regular. It's like all the disgust is focused on the police and trying to find anything they're doing wrong.

People are disgusted by the violence, but the difference is civilian-on-civilian violence comes with consequences. Civilians who shoot other civilians eventually get arrested, have a trial, and quite frequently get hauled off to prison for their crimes. Police, on the other hand, get paid administrative leave and an atta-boy from the local union when they kill unarmed civilians.

If you can't understand that distinction, I don't know how to help you.

We are talking about Boston and MA in general. There haven't been any controversial police killings of civilians around here. Boston police are pretty tame with the civilians encounter. Their problems right now are over time fraud and a few cops who did some questionable things a few year ago. I don't need you to help me.

I mean an elected official actually suggested that the pavement gets too hot in the summer which incites more violence. It is mind boggling to me that would be suggested. Not to mention yesterday was a cool day and someone was still killed in broad daylight in Dorchester.

How many people in Boston have been shot by another civilian over the past year? Then tell me how many of those shootings were justified.

I'll be here all day, for whenever you're ready to answer.

In addition to this blatant misrepresentation and generalization you clearly can't understand what evidence, facts, case law and due process mean, and you are beyond help so I won't try.

Likely true, but it's this very baseless rhetoric that dupes low information (but impressionable) voters into going with the pro-Defund type candidates, who likely won't understand the consequences of that until they reach crisis levels. I will continue to call out this nonsense as I see it pushed.

Yeah, but you're talking about people for whom it is much more important to feel self-righteous and cool, than it is to acknowledge facts. Especially those facts that don't make anyone feel good and where being cool is completely irrelevant.

Shouldn't be. There is a good amount of research on the effects of temperature (and not just overall air temperature, but micro climes from lack of trees and abundance of paving / impervious surface coverage) on impacts on physiology and links to rates of violent crime (often found to be linear, or linear to a point). Many published studies on this.
