I can't say it makes me feel any better that everyone is paying more for rent

Boston public schools looking to fill 1000 jobs by September

I'm sure these are all jobs that will allow someone to get a very nice apt in the Boston area right?

At least in my experience, the overbidding on apartment thing isn't brand new. The last time I was in the rental market (looking during the spring/summer of 2019), we actually lost out on our preferred place because someone else offered $300 more than the advertised price. It was a first for us, but the broker we were working with said it wasn't unusual. This was a pretty standard (at or even just below market) 2br/1ba apartment, not a "luxury" unit by any stretch. Maybe it's happening more in 2022 than it was in 2019, but it doesn't surprise me.

"A fire on an MBTA bus that injured two workers last week in the Arborway Yard was likely caused by a failed air conditioner compressor, according to the agency’s Deputy General Manager Jeffrey Gonneville." BH

At the time I thought yes but does anyone honestly still think now that we could have hosted the olympics in two years?

At this point the MBTA is COVID 2.0. Problems with the buses, problems with the subways..when are the boats going to have issues?

Just spread things out. You already have a takeover of BPS by the state and the MBTA by the state. Might as well put Boston and the mbta under federal receivership.

That is crazy. I haven't taken the train since March of 2020. I do recall being on broken down trains that I had to get off of after waiting a long time and then had to wait longer for another train to show up and believe me that was demoralizing as all hell..but I never had to walk through a tunnel. Not as bad as having to jump into the river though.

Just really sad that no one cares and this is what commuters have to deal with. I said it again and I'll say it again- so glad I'm remote.

Remote is eventually going to be the end of this country. We still live in the physical world where things need building and maintenance. We are already largely a paper pushing economy, and this just takes it up another notch.

How? As has been said there were remote jobs before covid and not everyone is remote now.

The MBTA could be the end of Boston.
