I'm sure you know that Wegmans is also in Pennsylvania, NJ, Mass, Maryland and Virginia and growing by strong demand. I guess the whole eastern US is pretty bored.
I guess NC is next, but I think it is still up in the air.

They are building 2 store's Raleigh & Cary NC, aka New Buffalo because so many ex WNYers have moved there and are planning atleast 13 more stores in growing SE part of the US

Raleigh/Cary probably has more people from Downstate than from the Buffalo area. People have been wanting a Wegmans down there for a while and they appear to be getting their wish.
They have opened 4 stores in 6 years, how is that leaving Wegmans in the dust?
Fry's is just one brand that Kroger's uses, they use other the brand names too, Smiths, Giant Eagle and more. Speaking of Wegman's, their not adding any store's in WNY, actually they closed one up on Walden Ave in Cheektowaga due to WNY's shrinking population & WNY's horrendous economy

Wegmans closed that store in 2006 because the location was terrible. It was difficult to get into and hidden. They spent 40 million dollars since 2014 upgrading their stores here. The "shrinking population and horrendous economy" must not be hurting their business.

Food stamps are most of their business after all, Buffalo NY is 3rd or 4th poorest city in the country
and more then half of it's population lives below poverty level.

Not true, Wegmans has focused on being in solidly middle class areas and in small cities that have been essentially grandfathered.
Also, hasn't the Grant Street location become popular due to revitalization in that area of the city?
Also, that is incorrect about more than half of the city of Buffalo's population living in poverty and comparing cities in this regard isn't an apples to apples comparison due to factors that have been mentioned on this forum many times before.
