Governor Rick Perry’s presidential campaign office did not respond to repeated requests regarding his ownership of stock in Movie Gallery, a video rental company that was boycotted by American Family Association for the pornographic and violent films it sold and rented. Some of the titles included Teens with **** Vol. 1, Teen Power Vol. 4, Teens Never Say No,Big Tit Brotha Lovers 6, Bisexual Barebacking Vol. 1

LMAO.
Basically, your average video rental store that has porn in the back in the restricted section.. Common amongst many chains. And people wonder why this country is going to hell in a handbasket.. The economy is in shambles, markets are in shambles, fiscal policy is in shambles, the crooks who caused the financial crisis aren't in jail, were broke, our infrastructure crumbling, record number of people on food stamps, and the dumb*** headlines focuses on some guy's stock ownership in a local movie rental chain to try to draw as to his qualifications for presidency .. It doesn't surprise me though .. A large number of the populous is full of idiots who'd rather be entertained than educated so as to make an informed decision about who runs the country. Media is just catering to its idiot audience

Just why do you spend time and posts attempting to demonize Perry who is not a California politician and has no ties to California's problems. Are you trying to demonize Perry in a lame attempt to keep Obama in power? If you want to keep Obama then try touting his accomplishments and the reasons why we should vote for him again. Demonizing his opposition only shows you have nothing good to say about Obama and makes you look bad.

This is a very interesting piece from today's Wall Street Journal Online:
Quote:
Mr. Perry's 2006 rewrite of the state's primary business tax came with a break on local property taxes and was the largest tax cut in Texas history, said spokeswoman Lucy Nashed. But it also has made balancing the budget, required by state law, more challenging after the revised tax has brought in billions less than expected in revenue.

The business tax also has caused "significant confusion" and has been expensive to comply with, the conservative Tax Foundation said in a report released Wednesday. "It should not be used as a model tax reform for any other state."

Perry's Texas Tax Plan Runs Into Criticism - WSJ.com
Its clear that his primary objective is to starve govt finances in order to force paiinful cuts in spending---even K-12 schools are less important to Rick Perry than preserving the rich and their corporations.

Even when times are supposedly great, Texas has a 28 Billion Dollar deficit? How is that even conceivable? It all sounds like a house of cards that is about to topple over.

We know he is not interested in the quality of life of regular folks, he's not interested in the education, welfare and well being of children and so on.

I've lived in Michigan, Kentucky, Georgia, Michigan again, California, Michigan aqain, and now Texas.
I wonder why stupid threads like this exist with people who probably have no idea what one place or the other is really like.

For me Michigan will always be home, California is full of fond memories from a different more carefree time in my life, Georgia and Kentucky were military stops so not sure they count and Texas is where I currently call home. They are all different and if I had to choose in my perfect world I'm sure I'd end up back in Michigan. I'll say Texas may not be everyone's cup of tea but it has a lot going for it and the people are very nice!

The fact that a thread about Texas, much of it negative has cropped up in a California forum and has now propagated to over 17 pages tells me something. I'm not sure what exactly but I wonder why Californians who are happy with their own lot in life give a rats ass about such a backwards place. Strange....

Let's be honest. This is really true for both sides and we are only at the very beginnings of all the smear campaigns and millions of dollars spent on attack adds. Can't you wait? Show me a right-wing tea partier or left wing liberal who won't use this same approach and I'll keel over in disbelief. It's the nature of beast - politics in America as we know it. Does the liberal media go after the right more? Off course they do. But the right is in no way immune to using the same exact tactics. You have tea partier picket signs with Obama and the nazi flag on it. If that is not demonization I don't know what is. In all honesty isn't the president the great Satan for the tea partier, the head of a huge conspiracy to destroy America?

Derek

Because the leader of that 'backwards' place(your words not mine) wants to be our President and its important that we know everything about him.

Wouldnt you agree?

Furthermore, this thread is not really about Texas, but about Rick Perry and how his distortions and half truths paint a picture that is not in concert with reality. Texas was simply the state he shat on. It could have happened anywhere.

Perry seems to be unaffected by the mud slinging as he climbs in the poll's. That was my point. Everyone who is not a Obama supporter see's the blatant attempts to demonize Perry ... just like the left and mainstream media demonized Bush and Palin. Its an old trick now that won't work now ... especially when your doing this to keep in a President with a record of total failure and a unpopular socialist agenda to change our society. The people are quickly turning against Obama including the black voters ... just look at what Maxine Waters is attempting.

From what Ive seen from Perry so far ... he would be 1000 times better than Obama.
