Hey Yakima. My dad was hired in Twin Falls and sent to Yakima as the closest place to his family in Idaho they could put him. He earned a promotion to Wenatchee where a little Senno was born.

Right on, mateo45 Back in '06, I was looking at a home in the Long Beach area. I noticed mold around the windows and inquired to the realtor about it. She tried to brush it off as an uncommon occurrence but I did my own research and that's when I learned about the mold issue in areas with higher humidity. Having lived in a drier climate my entire life, it was something new to me. I've learned a great deal since then and will be very careful about it in the future. My lungs don't handle mold well and my bones do better in drier climate.

That's a beautiful photo. (your photos are always great) This one is like out of a movie. Something's missing though ... a chalet or enormous log cabin.

On another gorgeous California Spring day, the best thing to do is skip work and catch a game at Raley Field. It's even better if you don't have to worry about a job any longer and can just do as you like. Now that's livin'

Dang, Mars. I think you were about where I was last game I was at there. (If you aren't up on the concourse.)

Same here. I lived at the beach in OC for 44 years. After 9 years out here in Bonedryville, I 'm miserable when I visit Capistrano during the Summer. All I do is sweat and complain. I also appreciate not being forced to apply poison to my dogs for flea control like I always had to do in OC. Additionally, mold doesn't stand a chance around here.

I get it. For those who can live in humid areas, I envy them. I wish my brother had realized that. He suffered with asthma his entire life. My folks moved from the bay area to the valley, in the hope it would help him. It did.

As an adult, he lived in various areas; Lake Tahoe, southern California and even Idaho. Eventually, he settled in Sun Valley and was doing fairly well. He was pushed to move to North Carolina, in 1996. In 2001, he died from respiratory failure. The humidity levels exacerbated his already compromised lungs. I think if he had stayed in Sun Valley, he might still be alive but that's just my opinion. It's for that reason I am hesitant to move to a humid climate. I'm not going to escape death but I'd rather not rush it, if I can.

My only complaint (if it could be considered a complaint) is that I use more moisturizer than my friend in Oklahoma. But I don't mind.

^ ^ Sorry to hear about your brother, and I can relate, having endured a couple dozen years of chronic coughing and recurring bronchitis for basically all the winter months I lived in the PNW! Finally ended in throat cancer (treated it early and am fine now). But after seeing no other possible causes in my profile besides the winter mold allergies, it was definitely time to get the heck out of Dodge... and only regret is I didn't do it sooner!

BTW, if you look up some of the most common molds in the NW, many of 'em are potent carcinogens!!

Thank you (about my bro). Good lord, you've really had some major health problems! Good thing it was caught early. Still, it's pretty scary when you hear you have the big "C" word. I have no doubt the drier climate has been beneficial for you. Hoping you continue to thrive now that you're away from the humidity.

California may have earthquakes and termites but little mold problems unless it's on the coastal side of the state. If it wasn't for the sweltering summer heat here, I'd say I live in utopia. My folks knew it too that's why they both moved out here in their teens. Dad from Kentucky and Mom from South Dakota. Like the Clampetts, they knew Californieee was the place to be!

Sorry about health problems as well to all.
But some of us need the wet. If I come out of the tule marshes, I die.

So tule, do you folks get many skeeters around there...? Was just reading about a breed that's been taking over Florida, that are the size of quarters.. and apparently they're mean suckers!

Affirmative.

Not a problem for the Swamp Thing however. Just the city folk.
