There are traditional IRAs where the amount you contribute is tax deferred until you withdraw the funds in retirement. Roth IRAs are not taxed, because you make contributions on after-tax income. The bonus for a Roth IRA is that while you do not get the tax advantage when you deposit funds, the earnings you make on the fund is not taxed.

Amen.

Only the liberals could pull off that war on the middle class which is still in progress 30+ years and counting; they're just not middle-class friendly folks regardless of whatever comes out of their mouths.
You're wrong, what drives the cost of a house is what people are willing to pay for it and Tyler Texas ain't no San Francisco

I know, right? Best are the ones who gripe that people are generalizing Texas, then they turn around and generalize California.

SF is not the only place that housing costs are out of control. There are plenty of not as desirable places to live here in CA and you still would not be able to buy that type of house here for even a fraction of what it costs there.

My partners mother lives in a very nice gated community in Tyler. It's not as horrid as you make it out to sound. You just have a very narrow outdated perspective.

Both of you plus the poster I responded to about his generalizations are the only ones so far who are generalizing.

Have fun and continue on with it.

I wonder how much more disparity between the rich and the poor they need to observe in this state to finally see it?

My outlook is neither narrow or outdated and there's really no need to get snarky. It's ok to make your case for Texas but that doesn't give you license to make overly broad, inaccurate statements about California and then get angry when people disagree with you. The simple fact is that if enough people found Tyler Texas as desirable as San Francisco, Los Angeles or San Diego the cost of homes would be same as it is in those areas.
