I was born the same year as MJ and it's really hit me - I did not expect to feel this way. It's like somebody said - it was like he was your friend and you grew up together.
I think I also remember how he used to be as a kid and a young adult and I feel sorrow for how he ended up in middle age.
I had gotten teary when Jerry Garcia, Kurt Cobain, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, JFK Jr., and Princess Diana passed away. I am sure there are a few more but those are the ones I remember off the top right now.
I'm an emotional person, so it does take much these days to move me to tears. Today, when I heard of Michael Jackson's death, it was so unexpected that I felt I was hit by a wall. I began to sob for a few mins. cause this was a person that had been apart of my life since as long as I can remember. In fact. Wanna Be Startin' Something was the first song I remember learning the words to.
I'm fine now however.
I also shed a tear for Aaliyah, Lefteye and John Ritter. Got choked up about JFK Jr.
What about you?
Yes Princess Di, JFK and JFK Jr., Dale Earnhardt Senior
JFK jr - just felt so 'bereft' on that one - also it was hard to believe. I'm from Dallas and was a small child when his daddy died here - my father saw him a minute or two before - so maybe it's a little personal.
It seems like it's always the ones that led especially troubled lives that manage to touch people the most. Examples such as Anna Nicole Smith, Bruce Lee, Princess Diana, and certainly now Michael Jackson...they led lives of breathtaking highs and terrifying lows that normal poeple could not begin imagine...until finally meeting tragic ends.
Who cares if he died hes not nor will be as great as elivs
