I was born the same year as MJ and it's really hit me - I did not expect to feel this way. It's like somebody said - it was like he was your friend and you grew up together.

I think I also remember how he used to be as a kid and a young adult and I feel sorrow for how he ended up in middle age.

I had gotten teary when Jerry Garcia, Kurt Cobain, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, JFK Jr., and Princess Diana passed away. I am sure there are a few more but those are the ones I remember off the top right now.

Wanna Be Startin' Something was the first song I remember learning the words to.

I'm fine now however.

I also shed a tear for Aaliyah, Lefteye and John Ritter. Got choked up about JFK Jr.

What about you?
Yes Princess Di, JFK and JFK Jr., Dale Earnhardt Senior

JFK jr - just felt so 'bereft' on that one - also it was hard to believe. I'm from Dallas and was a small child when his daddy died here - my father saw him a minute or two before - so maybe it's a little personal.

As I did too. I guess you're right she's a celebrity even though it came through at her death.

Never. The only time I've cried over the deaths of people I don't know was on or shortly after 09/11/01.

I think most of us cried for a long time about that - it's still hard to watch or think about...

It seems like it's always the ones that led especially troubled lives that manage to touch people the most. Examples such as Anna Nicole Smith, Bruce Lee, Princess Diana, and certainly now Michael Jackson...they led lives of breathtaking highs and terrifying lows that normal poeple could not begin imagine...until finally meeting tragic ends.
