They are allowing folks to go in and check up on their houses but not stay on Edisto. They are letting folks by section...they announced these streets for tomorrow....RESIDENT ENTRY PROCEDURE - Town Of Edisto Beach
We just got back and are trying to catchup on what's gone on.
LedMonkey, you are soooooooooo correct. So "very Charleston." Much appreciate the insight!
I heard from the house owner yesterday. The causeway to Edisto Island has been washed out! Can't even get utility trucks in to check on the power. I'm not feeling optimistic about this visit.
My Publix cashier today lives in Edisto. She was telling me there would be no electricity for at least a week and probably longer.
We're getting conflicting reports of traffic jams on the interstate from people coming back to Charleston thru Columbia on I-26 today (Sunday). The traffic cams showed clear traffic but a couple of neighbors said they got stuck in bumper to bumper traffic from Columbia to Charleston.
I'm hoping to hear people's experiences coming back from Greenville/Spartanburg area as to the traffic conditions.
Also, when most evacuees plan to return. We planned to come home in the morning, but if the interstate is bogged down with incoming traffic we may change our mind.
Guy next door to me got back late Monday from Tenn. and said that the drive between Spartanburg and Columbia was pretty bad as well as Columbia to Charleston.
