Jimmy, no matter what she says, you wont listen, your mind is shut. Like many others on here. So lets let the investigation play out, and if they find something, appropriate action can be taken

In my world, that is known as "reasonable suspicion" and warrants a closer look. Then a vast amount (yet apparently incomplete in my opinion), of glaring potential ethical/criminal violations was discovered. Thus warranting an escalation of the investigation with the enjoining of law enforcement, the ethics commission and fraud investigators from the state auditor, again as we say in my world as being grounded solidly in "probable cause". Savage is in trouble, politically obviously, but more importantly, she is staring down the barrel of numerous potential felonies. One aspect yet to even be considered, if her alledged crimes are substantiated, did she employ electronic means or the US postal service to transmit her potentially criminal acts? That is what we call wire and/or mail fraud, a nice touch of icing on the cake in the form of additional leverage when it comes to fraud cases that is very easy to prove by the way.

She might want to resign locally as well to her state position as a sincere gesture of accepting responsibility and expressing true remorse, pray she can plead to something less than a felony and for damn sure find a real lawyer other than barefoot joe.

I also have to wonder if she regrets not simply taking her lumps on the initial ethics complaint before this exploded in her face? So many times those that know they are wrong, think their "intellect" when coupled with the song and dance we see by not only by themselves, but their enablers as well, actually weigh in their favor. Mrs. Savage and her possee are due a reality check.
Can we wait and see if she is actually CHARGED with anything....you seem to really want to get ahead of yourself, but even your words "potential", "probable cause", "potentially"....why dont we wait for the charges before discussing "potential" punishment

You are correct my mind is already made up. Based on what i have seen i am comfortable with my assessment of the situation. Wether she gets charged or not she should not be on the BOE (state or local). The state has obviously already encouraged her to resign. The amount of evidence presented would be more than enough to end a persons career in most companies without a judge or jury - just HR (even if the manager liked her).

on a side note - my wife and i actually voted for her during her initial term. She really seemed to have it all together.

You gotta love people who ASSUME and speak like its fact....there is no way possible that you can know the STATE BOE encouraged her to resign unless you were sitting in a room or on the phone with State Reps and Ms Savage....you were present for that conversation or are you ASSUMING? You have made numerous references to waiting for her explanation, but just said above your mind has been made up. Why the need for an explanation if you dont want to hear it?

Can we get Croal to investigate? CAPS should have all the local mileage data for him and Maher can provide the satellite photos from Google maps. If I recall none of those groups ever jumped to conclusions.

Given the fact the UCBOE presented credible eyewitness accounts (in writing no less) that Mrs. Savage claimed trips to visit former UCPS employees (2) in Edenton and Hickory that both know her well, with neither never seeing hide nor hair of her alone should be grounds for her to resign. I believe the other witness was the State Superintendent refuting a "NCSBOE graduation recognition ceremony" she claimed to have attended. A ceremony that was identified as occurring on a totally different date altogether. Oh but wait, she changed her story later and claimed it was a "committee meeting", yet we have no official record of it nor confirmation once again from the State Superintendent at NCDPI. There's no way to spin evidence like that and if there was, why did Mrs. Savage choose to cut and run, claim to be the victim and chastise the local BOE for asking very pertinent questions? Futhermore, aren't local BOE members entitled to answers simply as taxpayers of the State of North Carolina that have been subjected to her alledged abuse at a minimum? You have to seriously wonder why Mrs. Savage claims to be the victim instead of answering legitimate questions to defend her actions. The NCSBI, the NC Ethics Commission and the State Auditor do not open investigations without good cause, nor would the Governor want an innocent appointee to resign so as to fuel even more speculation over the person's actions.

Mrs. Savage is not the victim of persecution as she claims. She is someone that shirks responsibility when the going gets tough, frankly a liar, a thief and an embarrassment to Union County. While the judicial system will address the matters of criminal activitities, the circus that surrounds her reckless and abhorant behavior needs to be remedied by her immediate resignation. If ending her "distraction" or "newly assigned job duties" were good reasons to bow out at the state level, it ought to be good enough for Union County as well.

I suspect if she doesn't resign, she will indeed be removed in due time. It is time for Mrs. Savage to finally do the right thing and go.

Certainly there must be documents from discovery that prove Marce was where she said she was. They are loose with all those emails so I'm sure we will see some soon regarding the questionable dates.

On a serious note, where are her supporters? I'm at a loss. For as vocal as they are why haven't we heard anything from them? This is their current go to BOE member. Where's the bashing of the BOE, expressing their support, digging in for details, emailing the state to reinstate Marce. I think that silence indicates a lot.

I believe they're now ranting on other social media concerning things like a routine civil rights compliance audit and signs that are required to be posted to comply with the law. Once again, they're short on facts, ignorant of the law and most importantly, trying to avoid eating the crow their princess has served.

The State BOE did not sanction her, she resigned, they have no reason to reinstate her, they didnt let her go, it was her choice....
