I think that you should google Lidl. It's Aldi's main competitor from Europe. They're here. They're learning the US market.
Wow, Lidl is there now?
I first learned of Lidl when I visited Germany last Nov. Great store - tons of goods at wholesale discount prices.
The Aldi's over there looks different from those here in CA/USA.
There's like a North and South version of Aldi's there. Something about the founding brothers having a feud and separating the brand.

Aldi Sűd looks like Aldi here. They are the same. Aldi Nord owns Trader Joe's.
I first went into a Lidl in 1997. The modern stores are much nicer.
oops! Didn't mean to lump in Big Lots under 'Grocery store'.
That's Just a cool place I go to over here.
Bummer on no Grocery Outlet. I asked 2 others in the Charlotte areas. They never heard of it before.
What about '99 Cents Only Store' ?
I think your version would be Dollar Tree .. Dollar Mart or something like that. .

I would also suggest Ollie’s Bargain Outlet if you’re into bargain hunting, but there are no locations in Charlotte proper. There are locations in Concord, Gastonia, Matthews, and across the SC border in Rock Hill, but for some, that’s a hike.

Ollies has a food aisle and some of the brands are west coast brands. I suspect that they're overruns.
As the OP, I don't mind mentions of discount store that also carry food, but mention of them should be in regard to the food. I would prefer that the thread not be closed down because someone wants to talk about discount stores. Aldi and Lidl carry plenty of non food items. They're fair game here.

Thanks to all those who chimed in.
I was just curious in what was out there & what's not. (Thumbs up to Aldi, Lidle and Trader Joe's )
Carry on.
