Is it true that the roads remain with snow/ice until they melt away? No plows or salt or sand added?
Yes, I am still from out of town at the moment :-))
Yes and no It isn't that Charlotte doesn't have any of that stuff, they just don't have enough to take care of everything in short order. I've been watching the news and they've been brining and plowing some of the worst roads, but I haven't heard any plows on our nearest major street yet today (Lawyers).

The main throughfares will be salted or grimed but secondary roads may get salt but generally the procedure is just wait til it melts in a day or so
hmmmm. was there someone on this thread that was talking about this snow coming...oh...a few days ago? and, that person was accused of being obsessed? Hmmmmm.
and, to the "other" Chicagoan, no, we have mostly ice under the snow and they rarely treat it properly, that is why it is such a big deal when it snows here. This storm was not supposed to have any accumulation, so, I doubt that they even brined the roads which is what they do as a preventative measure. The main roads are not plowed until it stops snowing, and we all know how effective THAT is.
never-the-less, I am glad to be off work today, and, as an extra bonus, off school too!! YEA!!

I think it would take a state of emergency action to close my office. I came in today. I could have stayed at home on my laptop, but I did that last time and found out that everyone else made it in.
I must say... I was driving on a sheet of ice to get out of Ballantyne this morning.
I can't believe UNCC was closed last time but is open today! At least here in Cabarrus there's "a lot" of snow (by NC standards at least). Last snowfall there was barely any!
one of these mornings my cats are going to have to believe me when I ask them if they want to go play in the snow. I asked this morning and got the "whatever blah blah blah" shrug and closed eyes...back to sleep. When I got out of the shower, they were sitting in the dining room window, staring astonished at the snow!! I said, "told you it snowed"...
