We'll be staying in Charlotte (Southpark) for a few days over the weekend of June 13th/14th, and I read that the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra perform in the park during the summer.
Has anyone been to one of these concerts and what did you think of it?
Does it get so busy that you have to be there hours in advance to get a square metre of turf?
Our hotel is within walking distance so parking isn't a problem. May have to 'borrow' a bedsheet to sit on though!

Put down your blanket way before a "few hours" of start time (like 10am). The event draws 10-15,000 people every Sunday. It is basically a huge tailgate on a blanket.

We have been going religiously for 5+ years. It is great free entertainment (although they do pass the bucket for donations). You won't be disappointed!

Now I'm confused!
I thought the concerts were on a sunday evening. In which case, I hope you're joking about getting there at 10am?

LOVE these concerts, especially the one they do on the 4th of July with fireworks! Take a walk over a few hours before and put your sheet or towel down to reserve a place, thousands do show up

They are early evening, and yes, people go as early as 10 a.m. to reserve their spots with chairs or blankets - they don't stay there all day though!
