You were patting yourself on the back for nothing then as I've been aware of this for decades. I have a 2nd cousin who was living there during the events of Bloody Sunday in 1972. I dare say I've heard more about this than you.

If you go back and read my posts you will see that I said that I had to pick one or the other to make my point. The statistics didn't matter but you did not demonstrate that you had much interest in what others were saying. However I will be glad to discuss the politics, demographics, statistics of any country of this planet. I've traveled to Europe including the UK, I've also traveled to Asia as I have a sister who is a long term resident of Tokyo and who I love to visit.

BTW, I've lived at the lake for 15 years.

However I will be glad to discuss the politics, demographics, statistics of any country of this planet. Trips to Europe are pretty easy and I have done that. Get back to me when you make it through rural Japan or something similar.

Glad to see that you read up on Ireland. I was only asking you to give me a reference of where I said that N.C. was just like Ireland. Guess that won't happen. Didn't mean to touch a sore spot. I really don't care to debate further issues with you. National Health was enough. I will graciously leave you so that others can be inspired by your wisdon and world travels. So, unless you decide to show where I said the aforementioned, I would prefer to divorce myself from further communications between us. Tata.

P.S. You do know that your "2nd cousin" lived in Northern Ireland? That is a different country from Ireland.

Back to topic: OP:

I think that you will find the University area to be the most diverse. However, it is not like what you might be thinking of with the Detroit area as being diverse. We do not have specific ethnic neighbourhoods here.

I agree that living in an area where I am surrounded by people of all cultures and nationalities is something that I require. Unlike others that do not find that an important feature, this is a deal-breaker for me. That is why I live in the University area and not another area of Charlotte.

It seems to me that there are lots of Hispanics and Indians out the South Boulevard area whereas the Asian (formerly Orientals) element can be more readily found in the University area. So, I agree with you the UC is the place to go if looking for a variety of nationalities.

Ahh if you were only just asking then you might have gotten a better reception. But you had to toss in a few zingers, as I have seen you do often, that intend to insult and belittle people. This isn't want the word debate means since you brought it up. I am only responding to you when you quote my posts to set the record straight. Though I have gotten several messages thanking me for standing up to you, this isn't why i am here so yes, I agree, it's time we avoid each other. I think I told you this before.

Oriental refers to inanimate objects like rugs or furniture. The people are called Asian.

Back to the OP: You asked for diversity so I'm pretty sure that it matters to you. I think the people pointing you in the direction of the NE area or University area are spot on. You can check the demographic info and see the stats. I hope the back and forth on this thread hasn't turned you off. ;-)

We live in a suburb 30 minutes outside Detroit. It is a great neighborhood with many families with religious/cultural differences and would like to move someplace similar if possible.

Any help would be great.
Anybody interested in post #1?? AKA OP? She asked for suburbs near CLT, good schools, w/religious/cultural differences. She did not ask for those nabes that are "cultural wastelands " that we have NOW defined as areas devoid of arts, music, museos, and fine arts culture.

So, we have Lumbullo entering the fray stating his opinion about SE CLT by proposing LN as an alternative b/c of its' :"laid back attitude" and not so "conservative" stance. But, what does this have to do with the price of tea in China?

OK. How have we answered the OP?? Is one to believe that if we settled in the LN we have what the OP asked for or is it another response that mearly states his/her opinion/agenda? What makes LN NOT a "cultural wasteland IF we wanted to stay the course?

Now, if we didn't want to stay on this course but answer the OP the answer is_______________________________?

You must not have read my original posts in this topic where I said there was a lot of diversity in Charlotte. In fact I was one of the very first ones to have done so. Especially after the OP had been told there was not much here because of the Scotch Irish. BTW, I did not offer up Lake Norman as a place of diversity. That was in response to others who questioned by credentials to say anything on this topic by making a point of where I live.

Note that in making a post such as this you did exactly what you criticized the rest of us of doing. Not answering the OP's question.
