I have myself seen have people on this site call parts of it safe (or at the very least ok or decent...)

Yeah if they lived in Cabrini and other high rises during the 90s, then Roseland seem like an upgrade.
Out of the 77 communities in Chicago, I think only Englewood, Lawndale, and East Garfield Park are more depressing.

I never been that far west in the city. I doubt it worst than the Roseland(aka wild 100s). Austin is big, and one of the posters live in a middle class sub- neighborhood of Austin call Galewood.

Here's the video of the kid being killed in Roseland.

Out of all the fools fighting, the innocent one had to die.

errgghh
So let's see: you think it's funny when someone gets crushed between two cars. When a pregnant woman gets murdered, you dismiss it as being part of the "circle of life." So don't expect us to believe you suddenly gained a sense of empathy and that you actually give a sh*t that some kid on the other side of town got beat to death

Galewood is an exception to most of the Austin community area.

Look at the murder stats sometime.

Those two college students killed the other day were in Austin.

Chicago certainly has no shortage of dangerous hell hole neighborhoods. Roseland is one of them.

This incident with the kid is really horrible. The people that did this have no right to walk this earth, as far as I'm concerned. It's a shame that our law enforcement and legal systems lack the teeth to do anything about this.

that s*** was crazy damn. that's the "wild ones" for u (altho not all of it is bad). This is horrible s*** right here. Even if the national gov. bans guns IMO people will just find any object they can think of to kill/hurt somebody (obviously).

At least there is a middle class part in Austin, I can't say the same for Roseland being way smaller. With Austin large population, it brings its murder rate down.

Galewood is not really part of Austin. It may be under the Austin "community area" banner, but it never has and still does not share much in common with the North Austin and South Austin neighborhoods.

Austin's (community area) murder rate last time I looked was highest in the city.
