If this is true, then you share a lot in common with militant Muslims.

I've heard it both ways.

For me, like when I have visitors of a certain faith at my door to try and witness to me, I welcome the discussion and hopefully make an impact. I think they may keep some kind of record, because before I really got my 'stuff' together and took my beliefs seriously, they used to come around all the time. Then, the last time they came, I really gave them a biblically based response....they haven't been back and that was about 4 years ago.

Anyway, I have heard pastors saying that while you were free to witness to anyone, this verse does at least give you the inkling that it would be best to just send these particular folks on walking.

I'm comfortable enough in my faith to talk to pretty much anybody...or even read an atheist book

I think we're stretching the point here a bit. There is a world of difference between trying to verbally communicate in a loving way what you believe to be the "central truth of life and the universe" and being involved with violence (which I assume is what you mean by militant.)

Thank you for not possessing a closed mind!

The thing is, I will agree with them that there is only one universal truth and way to God.
Although I don't share your religion, I respect your religious freedom and do not condemn your views and will not pull the "I am right; you are wrong" warring words with you. That's really all I ask of others.

I tell them to give me irrefutable scientific proof that their religion is right and all other religions are wrong. That normally shuts their yap and gets them to keep walking.

It depends upon how one defines "loving." With all fairness, you have not condemned my non-Christian views. And I thank you. However, the manner in which many Christians here have presented their views would cause an uproar if others pulled the same verbage on them.

What exactly irks you? Is it how things are put, or the underlying belief that Christ is the only true way to God?
