Satan has indeed deceived the whole world except those who have been called out of this present evil world and who have received God's Holy Spirit...

Explain how going to a watch night service at a church is a sin? At our church there is baptism, praise and worship, a quick year end review looking at a slide show of what has happened for the year, then a short message...many churches do something similar to this, whether its a concert or something else. No many rituals or demonic activities going on. How is any of this evil and a sin against God. Show me the commandment in the bible that says do not celebrate new years. They had new moon celebrations in the bible, so they celebrated every single month.

I explained the evils of New Year's via the link I provided to an article written to expose this pagan celebration.

More fundamentalist preoccupation with judging others. Let's try harder to just monitor the way we as individuals treat others with love and compassion. If we ALL do that the rest will take care of itself - whether we celebrate Christmas and New Year's or not!

What fun would it be without drunkenness and lewd behavior? It's not a proper party without those things!

It's only pagan if that is your intent. I can be joyous and thank the LORD God Almighty for bringing me through to another year in His wonderful creation. The bible teaches that all things are permitted the Christian with the warning that we should not do things that could hurt our weaker brother. I have always been very careful about drinking alcohol in Christian company for that reason. Although it's permitted it could be a stumbling block for some one else.

The bible teaches us that we are to be "In the world but not of the world". If this baloney about pagan celebrations had any truth to it at all we had better move out into the wilderness and separate ourselves from the world entirely. That has been done many times buy many cults and is clearly wrong.

Guess that means you won't be coming to our All-Night Mazola Party, Huh?
We had planned a Bible Study with some Children of God members...........
The Theme for the festivities is to find out if it truly is "better to give than receive"....

I'll let you know what we find out.....

FWIW.

It is possibly to remove the speck from your brother's eye, but only after you remove the log from your own in order to see more clearly...

Your label is incorrect. There are few fundies who would subscribe to this nonsence.

Fundamentally there are very few hard and fast rules for Christian life. You can pretty much boil them down to the "Commandments of Jesus" to His People.

There really is nothing wrong with a person making a decision that FOR HIMSELF the celebration of anything is anti Christian and declines to participate. Go ahead, make my day. There is however something very wrong with making this decision for anyone else.

More quotes from the article:

Rather than present a gift to Jesus Christ on the day they falsely assume to be His birthday, the world is busily trading presents among themselves! Christ has been not only forgotten at Christmas time, but is not so much as toasted amidst the partying of New Year's Eve! During the Middle Ages many of the ancient Roman customs were maintained and augmented by the incoming heathen rites of the Teutonic peoples. It was during this period that the customary yule log and mistletoe were added to the popular New Year's festivities. The yule log is a carry-over from the bonfires of sun-worship, and mistletoe is a parasite used in Druid rites as a symbol of sex-worship!

Just because something has its roots in paganism, that does not make it sinful. Consider all the things that were invented by pagans:

Pants
Socks
Shoes
Boots
The name of every day of the week
The name of every month of the year
The English language
The written word
Paper
Gunpowder
Metallurgy
Glass
Coffee
Tea
Irrigation

And personally, I've always been suspicious about zippers.
