One might just want to consider from what is written there that the USA or NYC is that
mystery Babylon. No other nation/city else fits __and the time is fast approaching that we see it all unfold.

The Babylon the Great, the harlot and city, of Revelation chapters 17 and 18 is Not any nation or person.
Please notice that the ' kings ' represent the political elements of earth.
Please notice that the ' merchants ' represent the world's commercial or business empires.
That leaves the harlot, the city, as a ' religious queen ' [see Rev. 18 v 7 ] who is in bed, so to speak, with the political ' kings' . The world's religions often have a political agenda instead of the agenda Christ taught.
As the people migrated from ancient Babylon they took with them their false religious concepts and ideas and spread them world wide into a greater religious Babylon, or Babylon the Great.
All the world's false religious groups have religious roots tracing back to ancient Babylon's false religious base.
That is why we see similar overlapping religious concepts and ideas and practices throughout the religious world today.
The world's religions [ inside and outside of Christendom ] have run afoul playing false to God and His Word.
The political ' kings' [ earth's rulers ] will have their fill of her and surprisingly topple her without warning.

There was No avoiding for Noah, and Jesus likened our day to Noah's at Matthew 24 v 37
No 7 years of earth being flooded.
There was No avoiding for Moses when the last plague passed over the houses.
If they did Not remain in their dwelling they would not have come out of Egypt.
The end for Noah's day, and the 10th plague came hard and swift, so there is No reason to doubt that the end of all badness on earth will also come hard and swift by the executional words out of Jesus' mouth. - Isaiah 11 vs 3,4; Rev. 19 vs 11,15.

Huh? How is the USA or NYC international in scope?
Political 'kings' [ earth's rulers ] are international in scope.
Merchants [ businessmen ] are international in scope.
Neither the USA nor NYC are international in scope.
The world's religious groups are international in scope.
Why would the merchants [ earth's business people ] morn the loss of USA or NYC - Rev. 18 v 10 ?
However, earth's merchants would mourn the loss of revenue they make off of all religious holidays and idols.
How could the USA or NYC be drunk with the blood of the saints - Rev. 17 v 6 - but religious-myth organizations can be.
Babylon the Great is a counterfeit religious city. A Babylonian-like city Not commercial as NYC was founded to be and is.
The USA [ political ] does Not commit fornication with itself, but the political commits fornication with the woman.
- Rev. 17 v 2.
The world's religious role has been a union of church and state in order to throne and dethrone political kings or rulers.
Religion being used to bless political wars. Not to kill, but to send out others to do the killing for them. Religions meddling in world affairs has cause attention to be on the United Nation's radar, so to speak, especially with religious terrorism.
That has contributed to an anti-religious atmosphere [ Not an anti USA or NYC ] in feelings and attitude in seeing a hauntingly dangerous religious climate brewing in today's world. Just as God used the Romans armies in the year 70 against apostate Jerusalem to be His long arm of the law, with backing the UN can be God's modern-day long arm of the law against the world's international false religious sector.
It is all false religion including false "Christian" religions.
That it is religion and not politics/nations note;
KJV Rev 18: 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
It is "religion" of all kinds in all nations:
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
It includes false "Christian" religions.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Man has listened to Satan and tried to rule himself and failed. Man has tried to live by it's own belief systems and failed. That was the choice in Eden.

The haughty goats of Matthew [ 25 vs 31,32 ] do Not become humble sheep but will be gone. - Proverbs 2 vs 21,22.
1st Thess. [ 4 vs 13-17 ] is in connection to resurrection Not rapture.
The sleeping dead who are first fruits [ 1st Cor. 15 vs 20,23 ] have a first or earlier resurrection.- Rev. 20 v 6; 2 v 10
' Flesh and blood ' [ physical ] can Not inherit the kingdom- 1st Cor. 15 v 50
Jesus was Not caught up in the clouds [ Acts 1 v 9 ] until after his resurrection from the dead.- Acts 3 v 15
The separated humble ' sheep ' of Matthew 25 are also Not the spiritual ' brothers ' of Christ at verse 40.
The sheep can remain alive on earth and keep right on living on earth right into the start of Jesus' 1000-year kingdom reign over earth when Jesus will have earthly subjects from ' sea to sea ' at that millennial time frame.- Psalm 72 v 8
Actually, I think the references above (mentioning "merchants" repeatedly) have to do with TRADE and COMMERCE, not religion.
Those "merchants" are the ones who were selling religion and getting rich. The "merchants" of the earth, the Commercial ones were already mentioned.Context
