I don't doubt that God is bigger than what is contained in Scripture, but Scripture is what He's given us. Personal opinions that conflict with Scripture are dangerous. The Spirit will never disagree with Scripture.
I have not read this thread, nor will I read it - but I have to say, it sure has dominated the forum for a long time which lends credence to my persuasion that a lot of people seem quite obsessed with the topic of homosexuality. I rarely give it a thought.
God sees it as sin. Any act against God and His word is sin. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
He stands firmly on God's Word. I'm proud of him for not bending to public pressure to do/say things that make people feel right or justified in their sin just because they themselves feel/believe/are taught it's okay. The world may change and our collective perceptions of whats "right" or "wrong" may change, but God's Word stands true and does not change.
That being said, he doesn't bash anyone but openly asks anyone who wants to talk to him to please do so. He approaches the topic in love, which many Christian pastors do not.
I stand with him and more importantly, on God's word. Homosexuality is a sin. But guess what? So are many of the thoughts/actions that people profess as doctrine on an almost daily basis. I'm uncertain why every focuses on this one so much but it is what it is..
Oh they don't?`
So if I say: I am eating an apple.
It says something different than: Estoy comiendo una manzana.
Please explain. I am very curious to this logic of how we can't know the meaning of words in other languages. I actually speak Hebrew, Spanish and English so this is very interesting to me.

A lot of people are obsessed with homosexuality, and it isn't Christians that's for sure. Christians are only responding to the tidal wave of homosexual pressure that comes not from the pulpit, but from the media and secular society at large. Christians have always held the beliefs they have, it is society that has become obsessed.
A recent article by Rev. Albert Mohler explained this very well:
Why are Christians so concerned with homosexuality? In the first place, that question is answered by the simple fact that it is the most pressing moral question of our times. Christians must be concerned about adultery, pornography, injustice, dishonesty and everything the Bible names as sin. But when my phone rings with a call from a reporter these days, the question I am asked is never adultery or pornography. It is about homosexuality.
He said that it is god that decides. He made them.
I feel that a church should be allowed to choose who they want in their church. Gays can go make their own Christian church. Jesus would welcome them as he would a sinner like me. If they are in a location where the number of churches are limited then we should welcome them the best we can.
A person (any person) dodging questions probably won't answer that particular question, Mystic.
