So then children who are born with birth defects should just suck it up and live with it. Spinal bifida, heart defects, cleft palate... we'd better stop operating on those children right away, and let it just turn out however it turns out. We wouldn't want god to destroy the city or anything like that because he's offended by the doctors or the parents suggesting he "got it wrong."

Are you suggesting that someone that is confused about their sexuality is the same as someone born with a horrible disease or birth defect?
sex is not a sin. lust, fornication, adultery, etc are sins; but not sex between a husband and wife.
God gave us this strong biological drive ultimately to reproduce and make sure the human race propagates. Within the institution of marriage, it is beautiful. Outside that it is destructive.
It is to be enjoyed though between a husband and wife and is a gift of God.
To have a sex change in my opinion is suggesting God got it wrong in the beginning.

So yes I think it is sinning.
It's a little different than going to the gym or brushing one's teeth.
So, you think it is sinning. OK. What Bible verse do you use as a basis for that opinion? I'm not arguing with you. I'm just curious what your supporting documentation is.

Certainly I see differences, just as there is a difference between spinal bifida and a cleft palate. Beyond that, no - I see no substantive difference whatsoever, no moral line that is crossed. I'm just curious to learn why Christians do. Can you explain it to me?
For me, in my opinion, if the person is born looking like a male, but has two x chromosomes or born looking female and have an x and y chromosome, then I don't think that person has sinned if on the inside he or she is not the sex people see on the outside.
What are your comments?
I think you should read the word. God clearly said in the Bible he made us male and female. No mistakes. It's the parents that contribute to the children feeling different. Common sense comes from God and unfortunately alot of new found American parents don't have either. And because of this, they end up ruining their children's lives.

It also says he made man in his own image. Does everyone look exactly alike? For that matter, does that then make it a sin to have plastic surgery and change your image?
These are serious questions I'm asking. I'm genuinely curious to know where some of you folks see the clearly defined line you seem to see.
I think that having surgery or any type is not a sin, if you look at it like the same way another poster presented it as akin to having plastic surgery for any other benign reason.
What you do with the body you have - surgical or non-surgical is the important thing.
No one should use the body for sin, and since Jesus came to save your soul, then whatever body the person has, does not matter. its the soul that gets saved. The body is just flesh.
so, focus on the spiritual part of you, which is more important than your physical body.
I will say this - and I consider myself to be a Christian - if someone feels they need a sex change to make themselves feel right with themselves, then they can do it .. if they can serve God with their new body, and they found a new found freedom, then they could choose to go that route. a person's true self is really their spiritual side anyway.
Thank you, that's a very insightful perspective. You've given me a lot to think about.
