Family, faithful remember Broward missionary killed in Burkina Faso attack as

“The seeds that were planted throughout my life were watered, and one sunny afternoon by myself in a Publix Supermarket parking lot, I gave my life to Christ.”

Riddering, 45, who attended Hollywood Community Church before moving to the town of Yako to care for orphaned children, was one of at least 28 people killed when al-Qaida militants attacked a hotel and cafe in Burkina Faso's capital of Ouagadougou last week.

“Mike was a modern day martyr,” Hollywood Community Church Pastor Brian Burkholder said Sunday during a news conference called to remember Riddering. “He lost his life doing the work of Jesus

Burkholder said he got a message Jan. 14 from Amy Riddering to pray for her husband.

“For some 20 hours Mike’s condition was unknown and he was unaccounted for,” he said.

Then he got a message from Amy: “Mike is with Jesus

Hollywood Community Church, on the other hand is associated with the Southern Baptist conference. A good indicator that people in such organizations are capable of doing good work, though too often accompanied by indoctrination in the hateful ideas espoused by that organization.

No, he was not a hater by association. He was in Africa serving God. Period. One of your buddies already trashed his efforts, which once again shows the true colors of religion you guys promote.

I didn't trash what he did or who he was. I stated he could have walked out his back door and found plenty of starving children to help--the same as you could. Miami has plenty of opportunities for a true Christ follower. So does California. In fact he endangered his life needlessly if all he wished to do was help people. On the other hand, if proselytizing was his goal in whole or in part---somewhere overseas is the best place to go, because America is getting wise to the tactics of fundamentalists. Proselytizing is agenda driven.

But "real" Christians like you are always persecuted. Hence someone who calls you to task for hypocrisy is a "persecutor."

"The mental gymnastics in which many Evangelicals and Catholics engage in order to convince themselves that they are the real victims of persecution in America are worthy of a gold medal. There is no issue too grim, too new, or too heartbreaking that they will not wholly co-opt for the purposes of convincing themselves that they are, in America, the oppressed minority. Yet they have simultaneously turned off those same cognitive skills with regard to the very real plight of any other group in America because, in their minds, the only persecuted group in America are Christians."

I was going to tell you to learn the difference between hating and espousing hateful ideas, but even if you knew you would continue with the conflation because it lends itself to your rhetoric. experience.

Thank God.
Sorry, but statistics don't bear that out. Check the actual figures. All the liberal mainstream denominations are rapidly losing membership in the U.S., while fundamentalists are rapidly growing. There are now more U.S. Moslems than Episcopalians. Presbyterian church USA is shrinking by 5 percent every year. And the Unitarians aren't growing, either.

Fundamentalist church memberships are rapidly growing in Brazil and Central America as well. And Falwell's Liberty University has 100,000 online students. The world's largest congregation, last time I checked, is Full Gospel of Seoul, Korea.

TroutDude, nearly all the churches on this list are fundamental.
