I knew an ex-con who had spent eleven years in the Florida penitentiary system. His sister is my wife's best friend. He attended our church. He told me that it is far easier to be a "christian" in prison where everything you do is scheduled around the rules. He told me there were scores of conversions while he was in there.
Doug said once he was out of prison, he found living Christlike to be extremely difficult.
Rule based people, like Bible worshipers, depend on the "rules" to keep them in line, not any change that has taken place in their hearts.
If you worship the Bible, your heart is in prison regardless of whether you are behind bars.
So you believe The U.S. state prison system be " 66% " Christian population.
Probably more then 66% identify as Christian, but such 'identification" can be meaningless because in many cases is nothing more than a cultural thing, and they'll be the first to admit it.

No , with the violence against LGBTQ prisoners rising in proportion to the decrease in fundie prisoners
it is all beginning to make sense .
Take for instance one of the most anti-fundie metro areas in the U.S. , New York City .
With the local prison population being representative of the local anti-fundie population in general , ( safe to say even more so since we are talking about hardened criminals ) , it then makes sense that with a threadbare presence of fundies in the New York City Prisons the LGBTQ prison population would experience
a great increase in the brutality & murder coming from their anti-fundie fellow prisoners. Which indeed is the case .
With other prisons in the country having such a bumper crop of Fundie prisoners , " 66% " , New York City may want to consider a program of importing Fundie prisoners from outside the NYC metro to quell some of the worst sexually oriented violence in the country these LGBTQ prisoners are presently being subjected to at the hands of their very progressive thinking, non-theist NYC brothers .

Calling atrocities in the Bible the hand of God is what evil is. This day and age, you should know better than the mind of the superstitious from back then.
I will never cheer for my sister, brother, mother, father, or anyone to engage in a behavior that is wrong, immoral, or damaging to them or anyone else.
Then you should have no difficulty doing so for your lgbtq family. All you need to do is realize your prejudice is wrong.
I think he is trying to argue that evil people use the Bible to support their evil ideas and actions.
