Germans don't like "German" food. They love Italian. German food is for tourists and for street vendor lunches (currywurst, etc).

America's idea of Germany and German food is Germany circa 1850 and doesn't exist any more.

For obvious historical reasons, modern Germans prefer to look forward and not to the past.

It's a wonderful place to live. Some stereotypes are true though - Germans are the most uptight, orderly people on earth. But get a couple of biers in them in a biergarden, and there's no better place on earth to be for good company.

And they have wonderful mass transportation and wonderful highways. You can have both. They also voluntarily pay for light rail fares despite no ticketing enforcement, and there's a general public peer pressure to behave in a manner for the common good. It's a shame that this is the same country where some of those positive cultural aspects were twisted around to aid the extermination of 10M people in WWII. They're still nationally ashamed of it.

The "socialist" Germany nation has a brighter future economically than the USA, but their food does not, lol. Sometime in the 1970's the Currywurst overtook the more traditional mustard on a red or white wurst as the national hot dog.

They love Wheat Beer even more than the traditional Pilsner/Lager pure "german" beer. Don't believe the hype.

I often tell German friends that someday they'll be able to visit "Germany" by coming to OTR in Cincinnati.

Time to start having Oktoberfest in OTR instead of 5th St!!

Moerlein brewpub will be done right....good people running it with the best interests of Cincy in mind. That Toby Keith redneck magnet does not, but somebody thinks it will do well with Reds fans. They might be right, and that's too bad. Moerlein's place will thrive, Toby's will be what Cadillac Ranch is to the CBD core - an embarassment to the city.

Sorry you feel that way. My cousin is a professional chef in Berlin and he makes the best German food when he comes to visit. I can't get enough of it!

Looks like Johnny Rockets is planning a new sports concept for the banks:

Johnny Rockets to open ‘flagship’ restaurant at Banks | Business Courier

Sounds cool and should be open in time for Opening Day. But while we're at it attracting the California chains, how about an In & Out Burger? And yes, I know they're a West Coast only chain.

Hmmm, I'll reserve judgement but I have eaten at the Johnny Rockets in Kenwood before and its kind of a ripoff. The burger was alright (burgers have to be pretty unique/tasty to stand out) and the prices were ridiculous...like they pissed me off type of ridiculous.

Cool idea about the In & Out Burger...is Fatburger a West Coast chain? A couple years back, one opened up in Oakley (I think ex-Bengal Willie Anderson had something to do with it) and it's already closed. Again, burger was forgettable and it was sort of overpriced.
