This site is designed for arguments. If you don't like to debate about cities then why bother posting? I know both cities pretty well and would like to hear your side but suit yourself.
I am perfectly willing to debate. It's just that I'd rather invest my energy in debating about LA, NY, SEA, or Atlanta, cities I've actually lived in...day in and day out.
NOLA is a great city but it's kinda a niche city. Overall, Houston has more jobs and more variety. If work was not an issue than I'd choose NOLA over Houston.

Houston probably does have more variety and amount of jobs. Im guessing by the niche, you mean tourism but people forget that the largest port in the US is nearby, it has many universities and hospitals, many etsablished and up and coming businesses, other things that i cant think of right now, plus everybody knows in could use more competent people in government and police.

At that point, I'd move a little further east and pick Pensacola.

He was addressing "if work wasn't an issue," and I followed.
Pensacola FL has the most beautiful American (48 states) beaches I've EVER seen. Whether I'd get tired of going to the beach every day is another story, though I'd be willing to find out...

Even if work wasn't an issue its too small for my liking. The Gulf coast beaches are under-rated but I'm sure you'd get tired of the beaches and the loads of tourists all summer and during spring break. But since we're on this subject I'd pick St. Augustine, FL.

True, you could commute to Jacksonville. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that it's a far-flung bedroom community for Jacksonville.
However, for the sugar white color of the sand and the emerald color of the water (not that color in NE Florida), I'd still stick with the Panhandle/Gulf. Haven't been since 2007 and I miss it.

Far-flung and bedroom community is an oxymoron, Middleburg is a bedroom community, St. Aug is more like an exurb.
Yeah. He is right here. Pensacola is a terrible place to live. I used to live there when I ran a finance company. I had tons of extra money to spend, and it still sucked. Sure, the beach is beautiful. You cannot deny that. However, after Labor Day the town switches off like a light switch. There is not much of a cultural scene, party scene (I know they have Seville Quarter and Emerald City), atrs scene, etc. It is one of the most conservative cities in the country which for me is a negative. There is almost no cultural diversity there. You better be black or white, conservative, pro-military, and Christian if you wannna fit in in Pensacola. Give me big, ugly, dirty ol' Houston any day over that town.
