Very interesting. I know parts of LA have a fairly strong Russian presence. What's fascinating is that Russia actually settled along the West Coast several centuries ago and there are cities\ towns with Russian names: Sitka, Alaska & Sebastopol, Ca.

Yeah it's only a little bit more than 1,000 away from Chicago's numbers. I can see it overtaking Chicago for 3rd largest Russian community in the USA. But I don't know if Chicago is more Russian immigration or not, supposedly Chicago's European immigration is supposed to be pretty good. Like Polish people and etc..

But Miami's numbers are impressive to be the 4th largest. When they get their economy to rebound I can see them overtaking Chicago.

Well, parts of Brooklyn are dominated by Russians (i.e. Brighton Beach). Nothing tops that area.

Here are some towns with the highest % ethnic Russian.

Apart from such settlements as Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, concentrations of Russian Americans occur in Staten Island; Anchorage, Alaska; Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; The Bronx; other parts of Brooklyn; Chicago; Cleveland; Detroit; Los Angeles; Miami; Nashville; Northern New Jersey (Suburban New York City); Orlando; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Portland, Oregon; Queens; Sacramento; San Francisco; and Seattle. In 2002, the AmBAR was founded, to help the Russophone community of Palo Alto, California.

Apparently 43,000 in Cleveland.. although other Eastern Europeans are more prominent like Ukrainians, Hungarians, Romanians, Albanians, etc.. all in large numbers. Where I live now in Lakewood, there seems to be a very large increase of Romanians, Albanians, and Middle Easterners. The high school has 30 something languages spoken in the hallways.

Where are they? I've never met a Russian in L.A. before.

I looked up the entire state of Alaska, here's what I got-
Alaska: 6,983

Then I looked up the major city in Alaska being Anchorage (it's largest) and got this-
Anchorage MSA: 3,676

I guess being the closest state to Russia does not have a large affect on Russian immigration there.

For Alaska it's 1% of the state population. But you know it's the closest state to Russia, but it's near Siberia, and Siberia is very empty, not really populated.75% of the russian population is in the western part of russia, in Europe.
And you know what ? 50% of the immigrants in Alaska comes from Philippines !
