Why natural growth? how about all growth that include migration? if that’s what your referring to. Remember Atlanta is growing slower compare to how it was, not compare to other metros. Last year Atlanta was 6th in numerical gains, and I believe Phoenix was 7th last year.

ARC: Metro added only 31,500 residents - Atlanta Business Chronicle

The ARC only count 10 counties, and their metro count is 4,155,800 bacially the urban area, the census count 28 counties and their metro count is 5.4 mil. Now at one point Atlanta was gaining 77,000 in the 10 county area and 140k in 28. But even 31K in 10 and 90k in 28 is still one of the faster growing areas in country. Atlanta is growing fast but not as fast as we were in better words, so I don't know where your getting "flat" growth from? And then there have been recent articles suggesting not only did Atlanta re pass DC but edge Miami but we see.

My picks...

Sacramento/San Diego - LA/San Francisco
Compared to other states, not a chance in the world. On an absolute or relative scale, San Diego and Sacramento will take a backseat to LA and SF in the near future.

The real action in the state is between the LA area and SF area. Or, more aptly, between Hollywood and Silicon Valley. Right now, its really stacked in LA's favor. In the future, who knows?

I think SD and Sacramento are pretty content with not having to be in the spotlight. In fact, it's probably their greatest asset since citizens from those cities (especially Sacramento) are less likely to carry the "holier-than-thou" attitude of LA and SF. Keep them the way they are. CA doesn't need more bigheads than it already has.

Especially when you consider the fact that these counties are not that big. IMO< I see it possible of thme becoming one, based on these counties.
