Dang, y'all sound like the feeling are a little fragile. It's not that serious. I take back everything I said and I think y'all should take the states of VA and West VA too (because both states are in the metro).
Chitown85, are you from the Northeast or MD? Do you have ties to it?
Born and raised in Chicago. Have traveled extensively throughout the NE (DC up to Boston). But to be fully candid, only the major metros. Not too much in the countryside except along the interstates.

No Virginia is a southern state. Point blank period! So is West Virginia. .
Northern, you cannot mistake for southern unless your an idiot. Bt watch someone come and here and call it southern because of the mason-dixon line.
And because it was southern in 1850. And watch someone say the Jewish/Italian/Irish immigration was smaller than Philly, Jersey, NYC, Boston, and the Midwest.
Is Baltimore more like the northern cities (Philly, Newark, etc)
or more like southern cities (Atlanta, Charlotte, Richmond)?
I can't believe someone would post a thread like this asking such a silly question. For anyone to say that Baltimore has more in common with Richmond or even ATLANTA than it does with Philadelphia is just plain foolishness! Besides being built very similarly as cities, Philly and Baltimore share a deep colonial history over the centuries. Also one could argue that Baltimore is second only to New York City in having the closest cultural ties to Philadelphia than any other major city. Baltimore is definitely more of a Northern city by far than a Southern city.
