As far as DT's go especially according to the criteria listed in this thread I still like ours better.

Philly can't touch us, so our status will never feel threatened by Philly or anybody who lives there in any way. You guys can have this DT BS while DC continues to dominate and overshadow anything in Philly, so as far as we're concerned, Philly has nothing that we want, need, or cant get in The DC area and that's the truth. Now Take that with a grain of salt my friend
perhaps subconsciously you just know it's true

One thing about the DC Metro that fascinates me is that the whole area is booming SO much right now. Entire new towns/town centers are being built in MoCo, PG, even Charles County, not even bringing up the VA side or the city itself. I see on a regular basis why DC's Finest and DMV talk with so much confidence about DC. Makes me jealous that type of growth isn't happening at home. There's no reason Camden shouldn't be the Arlington/Alexandria to Philly.

Also, neither Philadelphia public schools or DC publics schools are anything to talk about. Both need vast improvement.

Back on downtowns though, I don't really see why the "urban canyon" thing kept being brought up earlier. Even if I am near a three-story building block somewhere in Center City, there are still really tall buildings in every direction you look. Obviously, I would prefer if the three-story buildings were six, but I don't think it takes away from Center City at all. At the end of the day, three stories vs. six stories isn't really that much of a difference, especially if there are still really tall buildings all around.

I guess that's one of the perks that comes with being the Nations Capitol. The Govt gives it special treatment.

When they are spending; that is not always the case though the last 12 years have been huge on spend; this ebbs and flows

Hopefully the DMV region as a whole is preparing for the day when spending gets cut.
