Seriously.

In order for the NY CSA to be as Asian as the Bay Area, they would need 4.840 Million Asians.

Here are side by side, to-scale(meaning they are the same size) maps of NY and SF, with a map showing the penetration of Asians into the entire region.

Its really not close as far as the diaspora of Asians across the entire region, when you leave the NY CSA, the Asian population appears to dwindle significantly, but in Northern California, Asians are a clearly a strong presence in Metros that surround the Bay Area as well.

And that shouldnt really come as a surprise since 1 in 4 Bay Area residents is either Asian or Asian mixed with another race.

San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland 198,512 2.7% of the CSA pop.
New York-Newark-Bridgeport 201,748 0.9% of the CSA pop.

Asians Alone & Combined with another race(Multiracial Asians), 2010

So if I created a thread titled, "Is Chicago the Black Mecca of the US," it would make sense to merge it into a thread called, "Which City is the Hub for Black Culture: Atlanta or Washington, DC?"

I think a fairer question to ask is "What is the Asian mecca, East Coast or West Coast"

CA, OR, WA : 6 million Asians
Maine-Florida: ~5.5 million Asians

As an Asian living on the East Coast, I have never heard any of my Asian friends talk about LA or SF as some kind of mecca for us. And I'm Chinese.

This poll should have had NYC as one of the options. Mods, can you edit the poll to add "NYC"
Interesting. How many of those 5.5 million are concentrated between Washington, DC and Boston?

LOL! Yeah, apparently now in the minds of bitter Californians. I guess Chicago is now an East Coast city and Puerto Rico is part of the East Coast now.

Awesome!

Thats still less than LA + SF, so whats the debate?

Outside of LA and SF, where do Asians live? Redding? Eugene? Yakima?

Up into Canada, you guys can have British Columbia...we'll take Ontario. Then it would be a BLOWOUT!
You arent grasping.....anything, seemingly.

And yes outside SF and LA there are high percentages of asians throughout California. Not just big cities.

He said that because there are only three states on the West Coast (to my knowledge): California, Oregon, and Washington. Please let me know if that has changed.

Florida to Maine is the entire East Coast (PA technically not being on the Seaboard, however).
