I think the Las Vegas Strip should definitely be considered an upscale shopping district.

And if we're limiting this to districts, and not including entire cities or individual shopping malls, what are the districts in Los Angeles with great shopping? I guess Melrose, although there's definitely a lot of trashy stores mixed in with the expensive ones.

Chicago has one of the best upscale shooping DISTRICS in the country not including its world famous mall. The maginficent mile has every high upscale shop you can think of some only in chicago and new york. Did i mention that it is a distric. Please Las Veags boosters your city is not known for upscale shooping and yes i have been their and i can tell you that you do have upscale shooping just not enough to competer with the many cities in the country.

Getting provincial are we?

I would expect the only places in the western world that compete with Las Vegas as a shopping destination are NY and London.

Regardless of what mental picture you have of Las Vegas it is a world class shopping District. It does about 5 billion dollars worth of business with visitors alone. It includes some of the most expensive retail real estate space in the US.

Correct, but the shopping in Vegas functions more as a shopping mall than an urban shopping district, which I believe was the point of the thread.

Actual it is a district of both malls and free standing shops . There are 8 or 9 major malls another dozen smaller ones and a few hundred free standing shops spread over 4 miles. That does not cover the more remote discount malls.

I think that qualifies as a district.

Perhaps someone will define "district" and then we can see if Las Vegas fits.

The Las Vegas Strip is a "district" IMO.

Las Vegas, as mentioned before has upscale stores that are not found in Chicago. Therefore, I do put Las Vegas ahead.
