Montreal has only had like 8 murders this year (last I checked). And I believe L.A. has over 100. So, yeah, that's the understatement of the year! LOL.

+1

dimondpark is notorious for one-sided drivel. He's probably spent no more than a few days in Montreal, IF THAT.

I honestly don't give a rip about hockey, but I'll jump on the bandwagon for purposes of diversion. Apples to apples, consider the passion of Kings fans as compared to Expo fans.

I have lived in both cities.

Location:LA
Climate:LA
Scenery/Architecture:LA
Quality of life: Montreal (slight edge to Mtl)
Crime: Montreal (one of the things I love about Montreal is how safe it is)
Public transportation:Montreal
Shopping:LA
Universities:Montreal (LA has great Universities, but I feel that in MTL the Universities feel much more a part of the city, most are in and around the downtown area)
Entertainment/Things to see and do:LA ( I vote for LA overall but if we compare the downtowns, MTL is much more interesting and lively.)
Diversity:Tie
Economy:LA
Culture:LA
Food:LA
History:LA

LA has more prestigious universities, but more to your point on that category, USC is on Figueroa and is one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen.

Location: LA
Climate: LA
Scenery/Architecture: Probably MTL
Quality of life: LA for me
Crime: MTL
Public transportation: MTL?
Shopping: City proper probably a tie but the LA area as a whole
Universities: LA
Entertainment/Things to see and do: Entertainment = Tie / Things to see and do = LA
Diversity: LA
Economy: LA
Culture: Tie
Food: LA
History: Tie

Where would you rather live? LA
Where would you rather visit as first timer? MTL

Overall: Most likely LA

Yeah, if you like crime, sprawl, and smog than Los Angeles is just lovely. LOL.
