Lincoln and Omaha seem like potential twin cities, of course with one being larger. Another potential smaller emerging boom area is the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids area...think the population of the combined areas is already approaching 500,000 and growing fast. You'd think with 5 sizable metros developing along I-80 west of Chicago that we'd have rail service by now. I think Lincoln, Omaha, Des Moines, Ic/Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities need to work together on that...they'd all benefit from tighter connections and form a sort of linear emerging mega region.
It's 55 miles from Lincoln to Omaha. Not twin cities like Minneapolis and St. Paul, where you need a sign to know when you've gone from one to the other.
Cleveland just landed the RNC, quite an accomplishment for a place that will never be up and coming wouldn't you say? This is just step 1 in what could be a VERY big week for Cleveland.
Step 2 in the VERY big week for Cleveland completed. "The King has returned."
Louisville - Perfectly situated on the edge of the South. Has great old infrastructure in place and has seen a nice resurgence of new venues and restaurants.
Nashville - has the music scene, growing like crazy and picking up accolades from NY Times, Time, and others.
Buffalo - Nicely situated between Great Lakes; next to Canada, one of the lowest costs of living - very attractive to artists.
So should we conclude that Step 1(RNC)+Step 2(James)=Step 3(Cleveland's a "hot city")??
It means that Cleveland is receiving national recognition for the great that it already is. This spotlight, along with the massive improvements that have been taking place and continue to take place here, will snowball into Cleveland being a hot city.
I agree with your assessment of Denver. Sometimes Boulder and Aspen get more than their share of attention and Denver goes less appreciated. While the airport is nice, it is a bit inconvenient at 25 miles from downtown and having to be shuttled a considerable distance to the car rental area. The friendly airport employees there somewhat made up for that when I visited. On everything else, we are in complete agreement!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I think the Airport is nice, but really inconvenient. The new commuter rail from the airport to downtown will open in about 1.5 years, so that should be good.
I'd love to say Jacksonville, Florida but I think no one would believe me.
