I would suspect University City wants its own spotlight/independence perhaps for recruitment reasons but for all intents + purposes University City + Center City are 1 consolidated district. 50,000 residents + 50,000 students should logically be added to Center Citys population.


Just read an interesting article about Center Citys growing density. Currently its 29,000 ppsq mi..(Pine to Vine, River to River) At its current growth rate it will reach Manhattan like density in approximately 45 years. Manhattans density is 70,000 people per sq mile.

just want to let everyone know that university city is and has been part of downtown since 2010 and since then dawntown including university city have grown dramatically in size and population

im new to this but im shocked that philly passed chicago and manhattan in population thats amazing and philly is growing still and faster then evr since that economy boost in early 2015 also its been getting more skyscraper projects approved then ever befor usually 1 gets approved yearly now theres like 10-20 yearly throughout the city

philadelphia is a beautiful city and it beat lower manhattan and chicago fair and square if youre jealouse youre just a sore loser

Nobody's jealous of something that is made up. Chicago has the second largest business district, which continues to grow at a good clip. Nice try, and I am glad you love your city, everybody should, but be real about it.

It is not and never has been. It's a part of West Philly and is across the river.
