I'll take IL gladly. I prefer Chicago to Denver and even though Aurora, IL is a pretty far out suburb, it is still connected by METRA and has a nice little downtown.

Washington DC v Omaha, NE
If DC's cost of living wasn't so high, I would choose them. But Omaha is affordable and has enough to offer than I'd rather live there compared to Washington. Size doesn't always matter in terms of desirability and livability.

Indianapolis, IN or Portland, OR?
Portland, more to do, lots of recreation nearby, good foodie town, coast and mountains nearby. I don't see myself living on the west coast again, but an easy choice over Indy.

Boise or Colorado Springs?
Boise, but not by much. I like both. But Boise has a little better balance overall.
Ok I was a little slow. I'll lean towards Bowling Green though it's pretty close as well. Both smallish, college-town type atmospheres, but BG is a little larger.
