Maine. Never been to PDX, but I get the impression that it's not exactly my speed.

Oceanside, CA or Fort Lauderdale, FL?

Ft. Lauderdale. A more affordable, I prefer FL over CA, and the Atlantic over the Pacific.

St. Petersburg, FL or St. Louis, MO?

St Petersburg. Granted, St Pete gets a huge leg up due to familiarity and comfort, but I think even if I visited St Louis a few more times and really liked it a lot, I still wouldn't change my answer. St Pete is very nice...walkable, vibrant downtown, buzzing arts scene, great water activity everywhere, and a Tampa region that offers as much or more than the overall St Louis region. No income tax and close to our FL roots just solidifies the argument for us.

Austin v Nashville

I might pick San Antonio over Nashville, but not Austin.

I think I'd prefer the NJ side. Not as pretentious as the CT side.

Annapolis, MD or West Point, NY?

Annapolis... It has a lot more going on outside of the military academy, is warmer, closer to ocean beaches, and not too far removed from the DC and Baltimore metro areas.

Rawlins, WY or Winnemucca, NV?

Makes me think of a an awful made for TV movie about a madam and a bunny ranch, with a the line .."Don't make me send you back to Winnemucca!" She replies in horror "Oh no!"

Both isolated gas stops off of I-80, I guess I'd pick Winnemucca, seems somewhat closer to other points of civilization. Nevada would also be a better match for me than Wyoming.

Gallup, NM or Raton, NM?

Tough choice, and I love NM. I guess I'll go with Raton because it seems to be closer to more interesting topography.

Calexico, CA or Del Rio, TX?

Calexico, because it's in CA, although I don't know offhand exactly where it is...

Bangor, ME vs. Eau Claire, WI

Bangor. I like it's east coast location and the beauty of Maine.

Charleston, SC or New Orleans, LA?
