Waco. I do like Dayton in a lot of ways and it's larger, but it's a bit of a depressed area. Waco is a very nice small metro. Underrated, IMO.
Dallas, TX or Houston, TX?
I actually like Houston better but going with Dallas because the weather is more favorable due to not having to deal with hurricanes. Bellingham WA or Poughkeepsie NY?
I have friends in both areas but have never been to Washington. I believe Bellingham has milder temperatures, but also probably less sunny days. I'll go with Poughkeepsie just because it's more familiar to me and there's no threat of earthquakes.

Des Plaines, Illinois or Des Moines, Iowa?
Oh, this will be a though one for me at the moment. I love Chicago as a metro area and liked when I visited Des Plaines years ago. But Des Moines, IA is very livable and one of the better small metros. I still think I'll go with Des Plaines, at least for now. I'm very turned off by the violence in Chicago itself and I'm not as much of a cheerleader for them as I was a year ago. But Des Plaines is far enough out that I still think that community itself is liveable and has great access to other metro offerings.
Eden Prairie. Like the Twin Cities area. Temecula CA or Sanford FL?
Sanford. I lived in the Orlando area at one time and liked Sandford's lakefront and how historical it was. It was pretty affordable too. I really don't want to live anywhere in CA.
This is a great and very tough battle for me. These are two of four US cities on my short list of unique destinations that I'd want to live in some day. I'll take Vegas because it's bigger and there's no state income tax, but don't hold me to it.
Edit:
NYC. Gah, I love Chicago but New York is New York
How bout the other two cities on my list?
Charleston, SC v Honolulu
