Madison, WI

Very nice, progressive city with several lakes/parks. Fewer blighted neighborhoods than Milwaukee. Would guess a little less traffic too. Similar amenities except pro sports which will be only an 80-90 mile drive from Madison anyways. University of WI, largest in the state, is there with its sports & cultural events. It is also a little closer to my relatives in western WI and old friends in the Twin Cities region of MN.

Elko, NV or Pierre, SD ?

Martinsburg, WV because it is close to D.C. and to the mountains, and cool places like Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown.

Irvine, Tx or Monroeville, PA?

I've been to Clovis and it was an odd town, but I'll go with that because I have no clue about Portales.

Los Angeles, CA or Zanesville, OH?
