Pittsburgh. Not as cold/snowy, more interesting topography, closer to the big east coast cities, and also seems to be rebounding better. Taxes are a little cheaper than they are in NY as well. Also has more pro sports teams (including a better college team for basketball) and better performing arts venues. Though as a Marylander, I don't like Pittsburgh teams!

Baldwin, NY or Baldwin Park, CA?
Not knowing anything about the specific towns, I'd rather be close to NYC so I'll go with Baldwin, NY.
Both metro areas offer a lot. I'm in my late 50's, so the job markets are not a critical factor in my decision. If I were 30 or 40, I would probably choose Atlanta with its better economy. Detroit seems to be improving. Cheaper real estate/less traffic/less summer heat. Would choose to live in its safer neighborhoods, of course. Has all the major league pro sports. More water than Atlanta. Lake St. Clair and several other smaller lakes are in the metro area. Canada is right next door, too (Windsor, etc). It is closer to people I know in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Chicago is 280 miles away. Don't know anyone in or near Georgia.
Ann Arbor, MI or Athens, GA?

Georgetown. A beautiful, historic town. Near the ocean and Charleston.
Lakeland, FL or Henderson, NV?
Def Henderson, NV...Lakeland is still a bit run down...
El Paso, TX or Virginia Beach/Tidewater VA....
