Vertical construction of The Highlands, the $95 million project to redevelop 5 city blocks across the street from Presbyterian Hospital, will get underway in August after being delayed by complicated utility work at its site. The project will now feature 320 residential units after the Broadstone Highlands was increased from 74 units to 92. The Broadstone Eastblock will have 228 units. The project will also feature a 6-story Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel, retail and office space and a food hall called Highland Central Market. The hotel structure will include a Ronald McDonald House on its second level, with a skywalk across Central Avenue for a direct connection to the hospital.

The city's first Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel opened Wednesday in North I-25. The $10 million, 4-story hotel has 94 rooms. It was originally going to be 7 stories with more than 120 rooms, but neighborhood opposition for being too tall killed that plan.

Construction is wrapping up on the $85 million, 8-story hotel addition to the Santa Ana Star Casino. The 204-room hotel will open on the Fourth of July. The hotel is part of over $145 million in projects at the three Indian casinos which directly abut the urban area of the metro. Isleta Resort & Casino is undergoing a $40 million renovation that will add a concert venue, new Embers Steakhouse restaurant and upgraded entry among other amenities. Sandia Resort & Casino is finishing up its $20 million renovation as well that will also upgrade its entry and improve and expand the concessions area of its amphitheater. Just three years ago Sandia added a 1,700 space parking structure and the Green Reed Spa in another $45 million project.

Santa Ana Pueblo is also constructing an $11 million business center called WindRidge @ Tamaya to diversify its economic base. The Albuquerque area's first Big R Farm & Supply store just recently opened at the center, which also includes restaurants and a car wash.

Buildout is continuing at the old Albuquerque Indian School property just northwest of Downtown Albuquerque at 12th St. and I-40. The property is being redeveloped by Indian Pueblos Marketing, Inc., which is a consortium of all 19 Indian pueblos in New Mexico. The project includes 300,000 square feet of office space in twin buildings for the Bureau of Indian Affairs Southwest Regional Headquarters, with another 500,000 square feet planned. It also has a hotel and a commercial development called Avanyu Plaza, which will have 109,000 square feet of space at full buildout. Avanyu Plaza includes the only tribally-owned Starbucks in the nation, which is also the largest in New Mexico. It also has a newly-opened Laguna Burger location, the first outside of Laguna Pueblo for the popular restaurant that serves one of the best green chile cheeseburgers in New Mexico. It is across 12th Street from the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

The 300-room former Hotel Cascada in Midtown Albuquerque has completed its $5 million first phase of renovations to become the Wyndham Albuquerque Hotel. The lobby, meeting areas and guest rooms were remodeled to attract more business travelers. The next $5 million phase will upgrade its 30,000 square foot indoor water park by turning it into Q Waters and more fully separating it from the hotel with its own exterior entrance. The water park was originally built ten years ago and cost $18.3 million. The Hotel Cascada was named one of the 10 Best Hotels for Water Fun in the Winter by USA Today in 2015.

The historic Los Poblanos Inn and Farm recently completed its $15 million renovation and expansion. The project added 28 guest rooms, an expanded farm shop where its soaps and organic fare is sold, and a new restaurant space in a renovated barn. The property is renowned for its historic architecture, beautifully landscaped grounds, lavender fields and working farm. It has received write-ups in national publications like Travel + Leisure and Vogue as a destination hotel and unique experience.

In March a $15 million new winery by Vara Wines was approved by Bernalillo County in the North Valley off of 4th Street. The project will include a bed and breakfast, event center and 6 acre vineyard. In addition to wine it will be the only producer of Spanish-style brandy in the United States.

Great Job! love how you further some of El Paso's publications, I do have a question, are your running out of developments? recently you've been posting the old same ones. I've only posted updates.

I'm only posting updates of the projects as they are completed. There are other projects which I haven't posted about yet in this thread. I'll get around to them eventually. Some projects are more well-known and better covered so they are easier to find information about.

You shouldn't talk since you've posted about the same freeway projects for about a decade on this site in threads involving Albuquerque. You've also posted things like the WestTowne Marketplace over and over again. Not to mention the hotel projects in Downtown El Paso.

Why don't you give us an update on the Aldea project that you were crowing about early on in this thread.

Yes- I picked up from where HOTDESERTCITY (which if it makes you comfy you can call me that) left off - also added such as the planned $800 million to $1 Billion downtown project- the $650 Border West Expressway- the Eastside $18 Million braided ramps- the $43 million Northeast patriot freeway- the $160 Million GO 10 project- The completion of the $450 million Americas Interchange- the $400 million Montana Expressway, downtown hotel projects were under planning I just posted the actual projects under construction or completion. I can also post the 5 to 6 hotels and smaller shopping centers being built around the city. I'd rather post Texas- El Paso big instead.

The Aldea was canceled by the City Of El Paso due to the incompetent ABQ Geltmore developer, that was the rumor. TXDOT though is still building the Mesa Park interchange for the next lucky developer.

Aldea was canceled by Walmart, according to fact, not rumor:

https://www.elpasotimes.com/story/ne...ment/95480096/

The hotel renovations have been under planning for years, so you have no room to talk about Winrock. Time will tell as to what happens with any of them, or with any of the projects you've presented thus far under both accounts you've posted with in this thread.

Again, nobody's fooled by you and your multiple accounts. You've posted to this site with the same crap and voted in polls for about ten years under at least as many accounts. You have the same writing style and use the same verbage and arguments under all of the accounts you've posted from. It truly is pathetic.

I'll continue posting here just because I love discussing and researching development and this thread acts as a repository for all the things that are going on and have been built in Albuquerque.

El Paso City had the final word with Wal-Mart and Geltmore. Now I suppose that if I would stop posting and go away (I'm sure you would love that- not seeing El Paso's developments) the next poster putting Grand El Paso on your thread would also be a HOTDESERTCITY a Chuco a Sonoma would be kick out if you don't like their comments. It's no wonder no one that is for El Paso wants to participate with your behavior on here.

I don't think all of the El Paso supporters in this thread are you. Chuco and WildWestDude are certainly different people. But anybody with a brain can spot you and your posting style from a mile away. It's even more obvious when you use the exact same arguments under all your accounts. Like your whole schtick about El Paso city limits being right next to Otero County and the '70s interchange argument.

The Albuquerque International Sunport continues its growth after the recession and expiration of the Wright Amendment cut into its passenger numbers. Passenger traffic has grown 13 percent in April over the same time last year. At this rate the airport will finish 2018 with about 5,550,000 passengers, well on its way back to the high of 6.7 million reached in both 2007 and 1996.

https://www.bizjournals.com/albuquer...fic-jumps.html

Yesterday, Frontier Airlines also announced a new non-stop flight to San Antonio beginning in August.

https://www.bizjournals.com/albuquer...-from-abq.html

The Sunport is served by eight major airlines:

Alaska
Allegiant
American
Delta
Frontier
JetBlue
Southwest
United

It has non-stop service to the following cities:

Atlanta
Austin
Baltimore
Charlotte
Chicago
Dallas
Denver
Houston
Kansas City
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Minneapolis-St. Paul
New York City
Oakland
Orange County
Orlando
Phoenix
Portland
Salt Lake City
San Antonio (begins in August)
San Francisco
San Jose
Seattle

The Sunport recently finished a $5.3 million overhaul of its main runway and work continues on the $30 million renovation of the terminal. Both projects are part of $58 million overall in improvement projects either being completed or getting underway this year at the the airport. There was also an $11 million project to rebuild the general aviation apron at the airport in 2014.

https://www.bizjournals.com/albuquer...q-sunport.html

The $8 million in infrastructure and site prep for the 80-acre Destination Sunport development on the old north-south runway has also been completed. It includes The Landing, a 10-acre retail and commercial area fronting Gibson Boulevard, and The Aviation Center of Excellence, a business park with runway access for aviation and aerospace companies.

A few more upcoming projects in Albuquerque, the first two by YES Housing:

HopeWorks Village, a 42-unit affordable housing complex to provide immediate housing for homeless individuals involved with programs at St. Martin's Hospitality Center. It's located just north of Downtown Albuquerque near 3rd St. and Mountain Rd.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/826/28...fd5545a4_b.jpg

Nuevo Atrisco, an 88-unit affordable housing complex available to the general public, which will include 8 live/work spaces on the ground-floor. It will include other retail and commercial space on the site as well. The project will begin construction later this year and is located at Central Avenue and Unser Boulevard, adjacent to the Unser Transit Center, the western terminus of the ART line.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/980/28...3f5410d7_b.jpg

The city is also currently expanding the Unser Transit Center to accommodate the ART buses with larger bays and a new canopy.

http://www.huitt-zollars.com/sites/d...sit-Center.jpg

The $8.4 million Patrick J. Baca Library also opened at this site in 2015.

https://i1.wp.com/hbconstruction.com...JB-Library.jpg

Generations at West Mesa, a unique, 54-unit mixed-income apartment project that would be targeted towards older people who are caring for grandchildren and younger relatives. I can't find renderings for the project, but its construction was put out to bid for contractors in April and is expected to start by the end of the year.

The apartments at 4419 4th Street Northwest completed their second phase in February. There are now 70 units at the project with ground-floor commercial space in the North Valley.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/972/28...1c4c07fb_b.jpg

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/950/28...beb7b038_b.jpg

The Faraday Apartments across the street are a sister project with 20 apartments above ground-floor commercial as well.

https://photos.zillowstatic.com/p_f/...0000000000.jpg

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/964/42...44077465_b.jpg

The developer of both projects cited the city's plan for the 4th Street corridor as an impetus to develop these projects. The city's plan is for a dense residential and commercial corridor that builds upon the existing commercial density along the street, which was once part of Route 66. There are many historic buildings and landmarks all along 4th Street, from Barelas south of Downtown, to Alameda in the far North Valley. The hope is that the corridor will become a north-south urban axis comparable to Central Avenue and its east-west orientation.

Gateway 66, on east Central Avenue near Tramway and the eastern terminus of ART, is a $13 million project with 80 apartments that would be targeted towards veterans.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/943/40...d32feb25_o.png

A project nearby by the same developer, and also for veterans, would turn an old motel into 76 apartments.

Two projects in and around East Downtown which were revealed in documents for the EDo ART station review by the Landmarks and Urban Conservation Commission:

A project with 122 apartments with ground-floor commercial on the southwest corner of Broadway and Central directly south of the old First Baptist Church sanctuary on the Innovate ABQ campus.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4516/3...34aff334_b.jpg

A project with 35 micro-lofts above ground-floor commercial at 501 Central NE.

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4540/3...68a198b5_o.jpg

The old First Baptist Church sanctuary and office building will begin their $7-9 million renovation later this year. The sanctuary will house a community gathering space and the 5-story old church office building will house office space for economic development organizations, entrepreneurial support organizations and other entities and organizations. This is Innovate ABQ's second phase after the Lobo Rainforest building was built and is expected to be complete by the end of next year.

I think maybe the state of Texas should help El Paso with it's 2 BILLION DOLLAR DEBT instead of funding the billions & billions in freeway projects......ridiculous, considering El Paso is going to collapse under it's own debt it is incuring with it's fake boom!

El Paso's tax-supported debt at more than $2 billion; taxes among highest in state - KVIA
