What ethnicity they are doesn't matter. Whether they are Italian, German, Irish, Polish or whatever. Clevelanders holding onto their identity is no more common than any other city in the northeast or rust belt.

And honestly, yes, Cleveland is full of generic assimilated American Euromutts.

Sahwee but even a mod has taken notice to Clevelanders.

"Why does it seem there have been an uptick in threads that are underhanded ways of saying "Cleveland is the best choice out of this undesirable lot."

Whoop dee doo Cleveland.
Slovaks and Slovenians are not the same, FYI. And they are not tiny minorities. They are actually a very large presence on the northeast side of the city, with Slovenians and Croatian sausage shops, churches, workman's homes (social halls), restaurants, and bars. The Slovenian and Croatian communities are very strong here. I know Slovenians who get together to make their own sausage. When a Slovenian gets married, the whole community raises thousands of dollars for the couple to get started.

According to U.C., literally anyone saying anything positive about Cleveland is speaking inaccurately. True. This is a perfect example of our education system failing to teach open mindedness. What exactly do you think you're adding to the discussion? Honestly, IMO, the mods need to come in and close this thread, because at this point, we've discussed the weather in these cities. We've discussed whether the climate is as bad in these areas as the national media describes, including specific data at least somewhat to the contrary. So basically now what it's divulged into is people who have nothing better to do with their lives taking pot shots at Cleveland, and other posters understandably defending the city.

As per the best country, I think that comment was misunderstood. No one is trying to say that Ohio's Amish Country is something like the Great Smoky Mountains, or Yellowstone (though it has its own unique beauty also). What they are saying is that it's one of the largest stretches of Amish communities anywhere in the country (and for that matter, the world), and there are specific resources to back that up. It's extremely pleasant rural living, similarly to rural small town stretches of Iowa, or Vermont.

Clevelanders love to downplay what other cities have if they don't have it, then go on about what they have as if it's one of the greatest things on earth. Clevelanders also think they are much more relevant than they are. Cleveland is the 4th out of 5 important cities in this thread alone, and doesn't even have a real well known identity to make up for it.

You would never think that listening to Clevelanders though. You'd think Cleveland was a world class megalopolis comparable to Chicago with as strong an identity as New Orleans the way Clevelanders try to portray Cleveland. People make fun of Buffalo but Buffalonians are comfortable in their shoes. Cleveland is so self important and butthurt.

Anyway. Cleveland is an average city with crappy winters like the rest of the midwest who cares.

Weak, flights to your city are declining too!!!!
A more recent take than the 2014 article that you scrounged up, which shows increased competition and 20 percent lower fares.

Nobody ever said Cleveland was one of the "greatest things on earth." Another of the non-ending straw man arguments so beloved by Cleveland bashers.

Stop getting bent out of shape because we refuse to allow you to pull Cleveland down to Buffalo's level.

Can't really speak for all Clevelanders there. As a whole, do I like Cleveland better than Buffalo? Probably, yeah.

But, Buffalo is a cool city. Many cool neighborhoods/towns/scenery/affordable/scenery/amazing location.

If you read any of my posts in that CLE-BUF thread you would've seen that I said that haha. But, if anyone else has spoken like that, then I apologize on their behalf.

Not sure where anyone bashed New Orleans or Chicago either. I don't have a thing against them and they are amazing spots with cool characteristics. But, for what I like, Cleveland offers a better package than either of those two on the overall qualities that matter to me.

Why is there something wrong with that?

I wouldn't blame you if you said you preferred Buffalo on location, Niagara Falls, unique sports bar culture (though similar to CLE, PIT and DET, all among my favorite cities, in that area), whatever else you want to throw out.

So you accept Cleveland is mediocre?

Buffalonians don't get all butthurt when people disrespect it like Clevelanders do. Clevelanders are always
