&Pizza is pretty good. There's cross pollination up and down the East Coast, honestly.

Not really, especially in the Northern Virginia suburbs. In fact Philly is arguably quite equivalent as it's close-in suburbs aren't much different than places like Arlington VA or Rockville MD. In terms of Atlanta, yes it does have some older quaint areas but nowhere near DC or PHL obviously due to the development age differences.

See the below map showing the population density comparison of the city propers and their immediate close-in suburbs. Quite a difference!

That is interesting. I always new Atlanta wasn't as dense as D.C but I never expected the difference to be that much. I guess when you think about it a lot of homes close to the city center in Atlanta are well spaced apart. D.C is loaded with row homes.

In addition to the rowhomes, DC is also loaded with tightly-spaced apartment and condo buildings (a lot of the multi-family buildings touch each other just like the rowhomes do).

BTW - my map is at the same scale for both cities.

Even the suburbs are worlds apart in density.

DC has grown like Atlanta, but is built like Philly.

This thread is ridiculous! DC is nothing like Atlanta in built environment, transportation, downtown activity, cultural amenities, architecture, density, etc................

It's not much like Philly in those regards either. However, it is growing like Atlanta, and most southern cities right now. The South is really on fire right now.
