Spend time in reality (off this site) and you will see that nobody cares about that minutiae. Both cities are thriving and many prefer both of these downtowns.
er....it was about "the topper"....in other words: a joke

darned right! And we don't have to have a Lincoln Center adjacent to it because we've got the whole f'ing Land of Lincoln all around us.

I live in downtown, the south loop area in Chicago & have spent time for 18 years, 2-3 times per year in June & September in New York City. Chicago is awesome & New York is exciting. By your assessment & rating appears that you may not familiar with Chicago by personal experience. Due to experience in both cities I disagree with your statement that Chicago is over rated. The pockets that the police need to solve the biggest of crime no longer contained in the projects, one which had a police Dept within. Chicago is an awesome city, but for the gang bangers harm after the projects were taken over in an attempt to push them into the suburbs. As a result they are intermixed in neighborhoods of respectable, hard working Black folks. Cabrini Green formerly sat on valuable property which was desirable as it is closer to down town.

Chicago in the summer has more appeal to a tourist than NYC

Manhattan is not "downtown NYC."

However, the two largest job job centers in New York are midtown Manhattan (largest CBD in the US) and lower Manhattan (3rd largest CBD in the US).

Perhaps a fairer comparison would be between downtown Chicago (2nd largest CBD in the US) vs. midtown or lower Manhattan.

Hmm, I'd pick Chicago in that comparison. More attractive, cleaner, inviting.
