This looks like a small town somewhere in Appalachia.

I’m not worried about it because I have no business in any of these areas, but if I lived there I would be. I really feel bad for the handicap in those Philly neighborhoods. Between the cars parked on the sidewalks along with the trash and discarded appliances/furniture it must be hard to navigate? Several times I saw cars literally butted up against the stoops.

bro..thats not that bad. Abandonment issue sure, but nothing at all like detroit. Still mostly occupied and very neat. Even the vacant lots are mowed. This is a suuuuper stretch. Ive seen dozens and dozens of blocks worse than that in new England cities, let alone Philly

sure that's a rough corner but a quick google maps reveals most of the immediate area looks like this: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7751...7i16384!8i8192

Yeah, Englewood, Washington Park, Fuller park.. Probably some areas that are equally as desolate on the West Side too. Certainly not on Detroit's level, though.

Im mostly referring I know new england neighborhoods with more physical blight left standing, more overdrowding, shabbier housing, more graffiti and less upkeep

THe abandonment does exist but there's way more of this:

https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7493...7i16384!8i8192

the firs l ink mjw posted? literally 5-600 feet away it looks great. The very next corner: https://www.google.com/maps/@41.7892...7i16384!8i8192

As for the second link..its adjacent to a freeway so I can gather tons of homes were abandoned or razed at some point so that explains a lot

doesn't compare to north philly's consistent blight, poor housing quality, abandonment and sanitation issues. Chicago has fallowland but its generally well maintained and the remaining structures are stately. Far fewer distressed properties.

Philly has some abandoned areas, but nothing like Chicago.

It is far far better they removed the worst. ALSO EVERY STREETVIEW YOU SHOWED IS ....... CLEAN. Maybe Chicago should take the old Philly's founder William Penn's calling his city? His "GREENE COUNTRIE TOWN".

Plenty lots in the future for new infill. One day anyway. But it is not Detroit in scope or worst blight NOT removed. Philly could have removed much more. But they gut the old and infill with more tight housing today. A difference in style and housing. Just not saying Philly removed none. As to not ruffle feathers I said none.

Yet Chicago still maintained a higher density then Philly ..... despite thinking the opposite would be true.
