Not sure I would say Chicago is more segregated, but I agree they are both pretty bad compared to some other cities. Chicago definitely does however have its racially integrated areas, such as Logan Square, Wicker Park, Bridgeport and Pilsen. These even some patches on the north side which aren't as bad as you'd think.

Except it's the by far the most accurate way to measure cities size as it throws away arbitrary city & county borders. Urban area's add up every individual connecting census track of +2500 people (assuming it meets density requirements) and then finds the population : area ratio.

It's doesn't take rocket science to understand Chicago's urban fabric & density spreads substantially further out than Boston. It's a bigger & denser city any way you cut it

Boston adding 323k is irrelevant when currently as of 2019 Chicago still crams almost x2 the amount of people in only 20% more space. Are their specific area's in Boston that are more dense than Chicago, yes, but overall there is zero argument for Boston.

I'd say Baltimore & Philly are substantially worse in terms of demographic segregation.

I don’t think anyone has ever argued that Boston is larger than Chicago becauase I ts a really dumb thing to argue.

Bostons's history, charming neighborhoods are unmatched IMO. Also they have the best little Italy in the U.S., with the Big Dig the north end is perfect to downtown.

Chicago is a much much bigger citer psyically and population.

Downtown Chicago and the west loop are booming like never before. Downtown Chicago has never been more vibrant. The opposite can be said for the south and west sides.
Boston doesnt have a 'little italy'. Its just the North End and since the Big Dig was completed its no longer Italian except for people 70+ years old and even then the neighborhood has like 2000 people in it total.

Horsesh-t! 95% of all the bad crap happens on the west and south side.

The North End has just over 10,000 residents

Boston's North End is just as Italian than any other city's "little Italy", probably much more actually. Most of the real estate is owned by Italians and most of the restaurants are Italian.

To take it a step further, 65%-70% of "all the bad crap" happens in just 7 neighborhoods.
