That poster is a notorious Montreal basher, claims to have "lived" in Montreal but has given zero evidence on that. This is on top of very strange comments (I.E Montreal has a subpar food scene, is not urban, lots of "dead zones", or in another thread said downtown Miami is more urban/lively than MTL lol). Nothing constructive at all, just pure bashing, which is sad.

Yes, there's certainly nothing lacking in Montreal in the urban department. It's an extremely lively and walkable city--absolutely one of my favorites in North America.
Only have been able to make the trip once, but it's at the top of my list for cities I'd love to visit again (when the time is right, of course). Nothing to apologize for in the food department, either. Tons of great variety, and the best French scene outside of Europe, for sure.
While I know there is good for there, I barely ever hear Philadelphia mentioned as top food city in the U.S., where aside from NYC-LA-Chicago the names you most often hear are SF and NOLA. You even hear about Portland and Charleston more than you do Philly.
Food accolades are probably the most commonly thrown around these days, but Philly does have a lot of legitimate weight to its food scene, particularly given its (in normal times, obviously) bustling BYOB community.
It's one of the lynchpins that has helped enormously in revitalizing neighborhoods across the city, because overall Philly provides a critical mass of density, affordability and local creative talent-- a "perfect storm" for a thriving restaurant scene.
