Kansas in a landslide. That said, it lacks the charm and history of MS which can understandably make it less appealing for some folks.

I actually like Mississippi for a southern state and might would choose it over many other places, just not up against Kansas.
Kansas wins all those categories for me but Mississippiā€™s forested rolling hills are nice.

Kansas wins. It has more thriving cities and closer to more interesting areas. I like what Wichita and Topeka have done to improve their downtowns. Kansas City suburbs are nice too.

Mississippi has a few towns I like (i.e. Tupelo, Ocean Springs, Corinth, Bay Saint Louis, Natchez), but overall I like Kansas more. Also some of the communities in east to central Kansas that I've street viewed(i.e. Salina, Manhattan, Lawrence, Hays, and even Garden City), tilt me to favor Kansas for this.

Also, I wish more was done to improve Jackson. While Topeka isn't perfect, Jackson seems more dumpy vs. Topeka from what I've seen. I wish more could be done, to help Jackson turn around.

I voted neither. Would never voluntarily live in MS given its garbage climate, high crime, high poverty, and low ranking in damn near every QOL marker. Kansas is also a bit of a backwater. Wichita and Kansas City (KS) are both dumps, and Kansas's public school system is terrible. If forced to choose, I'd begrudgingly take Kansas (and hate every second of it).

If Kansas and Mississippi had a baby, it'd be Arkansas. If they had a second it would be Oklahoma.

It all depends .

I'd choose the Gulf Coast of Mississippi over anywhere in Kansas.

However, I think I would choose Kansas City Kansas over Southaven, Mississippi, which is across the state line from Memphis.

I'd choose Lawrence, Kansas over both Hattiesburg and Jackson, MS.

I'd choose both Hattiesburg and Jackson over Wichita and Topeka.
