Of Course Man! I honestly expected New York to take it actually, as it really seems like the strongest state on here. Last tournament, California beat NY in the semifinals but it was really close, and there was a lot of protest from people that voted New York. I expected New York to really come out strong this tournament and take it from the beginning!

For my money, Maine's performance was the surprise of the tournament. The Pine Tree State made it all the way to the round of eight, and, if I understand Danny K's rankings, got the fifth-greatest number of votes in the tournament.

IMO, it deserved every vote it got and then some.

Thanks for putting this all together, Danny!
Maine came in 5th place. Not necessarily the fifth greatest number of votes. The places within the Rounds were decided based on vote differences in all previous rounds, as well as the opponents each state came against and how well the opponents did. All of that was taken into consideration and factored out.

I must say that I agree 100% and was extremely surprised by Maine's performances. First of all, I was shocked that Maine beat Texas. After that, I expected Maine to do well, but I was bummed that it knocked out Utah. Not too surprising, but I was hoping Utah would win that. Maine was definitely the dark horse and the surprise this tournament for sure.

I also must admit that I was a little surprised by how well Virginia did, and that North Carolina beat Arizona. I really thought Arizona would've beaten North Carolina. Looking at last tournament results, Massachusetts did quite a bit better than Virginia and was surprised how easily Virginia knocked out MA.

The other thing to note is that Florida never had it easy and that kind of surprised me. I find it interesting that Florida just barely beat Tennessee and Michigan. Those were a lot closer than I expected.

I gotta say, I always wonder how these following fixtures would've turned out if they were paired:

Virginia vs North Carolina
Pennsylvania vs Virginia
Pennsylvania vs North Carolina
Pennsylvania vs Arizona
Arizona vs Utah
Florida vs Utah
North Carolina vs Utah
Virginia vs Utah
Colorado vs North Carolina
Florida vs Virginia
Florida vs North Carolina
Florida vs Pennsylvania
Massachusetts vs Washington
Minnesota vs Georgia
Colorado vs Utah
Michigan vs Virginia
Maine vs North Carolina
Maine vs Florida

Seriously, all of these would be extremely interesting!
