They can leave and stay gone as far as Im concerned. The current White Flight has had ZERO negative impact on the state's GDP, in fact, CAs GDP is actually quite strong all things considered.

GDP growth is irrelevant to quality of life issues that are causing people to leave. Many non-Whites are leaving California as well.

Parsed out the numbers for DC

very balanced growth in DC but big growth of the Hispanic population (mostly Salvadoran/Central American). DC has to have the largest Central American population after California, Texas, NY and Florida at this point?

I'd also guess that most of the white, black, and Asian growth in DC is high income/heavily immigrant and Hispanics are low income/immigrant.

It should in principle but California during the 2010s was an example of strong GDP growth but declining quality of life.

Percentages are crappy without context.
If I understand your list correctly you are listing which nationalities dominate growth?
It is obviously Mexican, and by a wide margin, but looking at the other groups percentages don't give much of a picture.

Take for example Guatemalan. I see SF at 23% so I scroll up to see the raw numbers and see that it is about 19k so I assume that is pinnacle for Guatemalans and assuming that the numbers are not that large. But then I scroll up further and see at least 5 areas where Guatemalan growth was more robust.

I think creating a benchmark such as 20K like the OP did shows a better picture.

Guatemalan:
Los Angeles- 39k
NY 36k
DC 32k
Miami 24K
Houston 22k

Nowhere as big as Mexican or Dominican growth but it tells a better picture than percentages without context.

Salvadorans:
DC 74k
NY 57k
LA 55k
Houston 56k
DFW 29k
Boston 26K

Honduran
Houston 52k
NY 25k
DC 20k

Cuban:
Miami 191k
Tampa 55k
Houston 29k

Compared to other nationalities the raw numbers tells that Guatemalan is smaller group than Salvadorans but bigger than Honduran.

Tiny correction with the OP post. Both NY and Miami seem to have 7 nationalities over 20k represented not 6. But the other cities after that are all just top 5 so it doesn't really matter.

NYC is a beast with 4 groups over 50k. Miami and Houston each have 3.

Setting Mexican aside, only LA, Boston, DC and Tampa are the only other metros that had groups that were 50k or more. Tampa is Cuban and Puerto Rican so not as big of a deal. Orlando is missing but would assume they would be similar to Tampa
