All just as whiter than the Southern New England besides Denver. And Denver is a majority white core city

Especiallly considering MA RI CT have white population that are below the median in the US. And the CT metros are only 60% white right in line with Greater Philly. So right there this doesn’t really pass the sniff test. New England when you remove northern New England is not especially white. That being said New Hampshire is very white and has been seeing a growing white population…

Also we’re looking at outbound more so than inbound movement.
Salt Lake has a massive Birth rate though and Denver is just growing really fast.

Massachusetts has domestic out migration. And is fairly white (68% vs 59%) so both random domestic in migration (largely from NY/NJ) and certainly international migration (mostly from Lat Am/Asia) is much less white than Massachusetts’s population.

The top in migration locations for Boston (other than Worcester) is NYC, and DC.

Minneapolis draws mostly from like Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas which is whiter than Minneapolis.

Providence and Boston are pretty unique in the bulk of its region is actually less white than the metro itself.

Well I think Salt Lake is getting in migration of white Californians, it’s probably not just the birthrates. Eberything else makes sense except Boston Metro is less white than the state of MA. Providence metro is more white than the state of RI though- that’s true. Because it grabs white parts of SE Mass. Boston Metro grands white part of SE NH but it’s still a little less white than the state of MA even with that. Without NH Boston metro drops to 64% white (in 2020) just a little above places like Hartford New Haven and Bridgeport

Still it’s odd to an extent. But it does playin to the overall ‘New Yorkification’ of the Southern New England area. Obviously more pronounced in CT and RI. But MA is seeing much greater immigration of minorities and less white flight- proportionately.

Yeah, I'm noticing this in CT and MA (Dont go to RI, but when I did is was all NY plates). Lots of New Yorker POC moving to places like Hartford, New Haven, Randolph, Boston, Springfield etc. Some white New Yorkers moving to places like suburban CT, Worcester area (Shrewsbury), Suburban Boston, etc... anddd NH.. lots of white NYrkers in NH now.

9 of the bottom 13 are in New England, New York, or Cali

The wealthiest group is not interested in the most expensive areas- on its surface it seems strange.
Everyone has had it with California. Not just white people. People of all ethnic and racial groups are fleeing the state for greener pastures.

Asians and Hispanics make up the solid majority of Cali- they’re still growing.

Who is 'everyone'? Angry White People is not 'EVERYONE'.

They can leave and stay gone as far as Im concerned. The current White Flight has had ZERO negative impact on the state's GDP, in fact, CAs GDP is actually quite strong all things considered.

From looking at the 5-year releases, it seems like it was more a correction for metros that it undercounted prior to the official 2020 numbers. The five-year estimates were way off on Pittsburgh, and since Pittsburgh is like 85 percent white, it figures where they were off was over-estimating how many white people left Pittsburgh.

So, no, Pittsburgh didn't grow by 300K whites, it's just that the previous 5-year estimates were off about 300k. But when released in this fashion, it gives the appearance that it "grew" by 300k.

Edit: I see the 300K number was corrected, but point still stands. The previous 5-year estimates were simply off on a bunch of metros (mostly on over-estimating losses in low to no growth metros).

Cleveland fits that boat. Looking at these, it shows that it gained 30k whites and 4K blacks between 2020 and 2021. That's an obvious correction. I think the previous 5-year estimates for Cleveland showed something like a decline of over 100K whites and 7k blacks last decade, when the black population came out even between 2010 and 2010, and the white loss was a lot less (probably 30k) less than what was estimated.

Id be willing to bet it’s the Domestic population. So I’d bet Asian Americans have a net outflow it’s just cancelled out by Asian Immigrants. Same for Hispanics but there is very little white immigration so it’s a big net negative

Also much like NY and MA it’s a net drag on the economy just not enough to sink it.

Austin is pretty similar and it’s getting more stark every year as the minority-majority/Hispanic majority/plurality counties of Texas grow numerically in more suburban and rural areas. The city is increasingly surrounded by at least majority minority counties or 50-50 counties racially white while Travis is around a steady-ish 48% White.

Here are some in the area:
Bell County- 43%White
Williamson County- 50% White, MSA (Minorities will likely grow faster here to push this suburban county to be less white than Travis)
Bastrop County- 49% White, MSA (Same as Williamson but much faster due to Manor/Elgin)
Hays- 52% White, MSA
Caldwell- 27% White, MSA
Guadalupe- 48% White
Bexar- 26% White
Falls- 50% White
Coryell- 56% White
Gonzales- 40% White
Lee- 61% White (Giddings the one large town in the county and roughly 30% of the population is 38% White)
Milam- 62% White (Cameron and Rockdale are 42% and 52% white respectively and roughly 40% of the population of the county)

The ones nearby that are unlikely to become minority-majority in the next 5-10 years:
Burnet- 73%
Blanco- 76%
Kendall- 70%
Comal- 65%
Fayette- 70%
Lampasas- 70%
