Do residents of Miami consider Miami a Southern city?
Do people from SA consider SA to be ith the South or Southwest?

They're both equally non-southern.

I heard lots of people say so, because we get lots of people from Miami here in Houston. Even rappers for South Florida call it the south.

Yeah form a hip-hop standpoint. But there is a WHOLE other demographic of people that live down there that will NEVER acknowledge it being the south.

You have some-what of a southern influence in Miami though, and A large black community; you can't say the same for San Antonio.

True. But the Hispanic influence supersedes the black influence in Miami. Same with SA.

True, but the Miami Area has a couple of historical African American neighborhoods, San Antonio has none. Also remember the race riot back in the late 70s.

I will admit though that the Black population in Miami is much more diverse than a typical southern city.

Yeah but the difference is that Miami has a very large black population and it's a powerful presence in the Miami area. Not the same for San Antonio which doesn't have a large black population. 1.1 million in Miami compared to only 121k in San Antonio.

To be fair, Little Haiti isn't African American obviously and Overtown and Liberty City is now nearly mostly Islanders. I can understand where Polo is coming from. Never heard of Upper Eastside. Most of the African Americans moved North into Broward County up Northern Dade County.

Miami dealt with the same problems as other southern cities such as segregation and racism within the black community. These types of things weren't that much a problem in San Antonio because of the large Hispanic community.

Most parts of Miami where anglos even exist are home almost chiefly to Jewish and Italian New Yorkers.
